    Under An Irish Sky

A unique Larry Neeck creation which combines two old Irish folk tunes to create a quality composition that is a superior choice for concert or contest performances by mid-level bands. Starting with "Slane", an expressive 3/4 melody , the piece then seques into "Brian Boru's March" an old march with a slight "Irish jig" feel. Neeck's many years as a Middle School Band Director has given him the knowledge and experience to write in a manner that gets the most out of middle school and jr. high performers without exceeding their capabilities. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Concertino for Percussion and Band - Menno Bosgra

This three-part work was commissioned by Kunstfactor--the Dutch Institute for Amateur Art. Its purpose is to further the repertoire for solo percussionist and orchestral accompaniment--whether brass band, fanfare orchestra or wind band. For a good performance, the soloist should be well-versed in a variety of techniques, and should have a good understanding of the instruments not only technically, but also musically. In terms of the selection of instruments and also technique, the first and second movement are more classical in style, while the final movement--with a set-up of various so-called 'untuned' instruments--is more suited to contemporarysolo kit playing. These distinctions will become clear to the soloist while studying the piece. (Menno Bosgra)Movement One requires timpani and tambourine;Movement Two requires marimba and vibraphone;Movement Three is a set-up of: five untuned drums (bongos and toms), large drum (standing), large floor drum or smaller bass drum (lying down), cowbell on a stand, suspended cymbals, Chinese cymbal and small drum.

Concertino for Trumpet - Kees Schoonenbeek

The first movement of this work, an Allegretto, begins with a fanfare-like opening. After a number of other melody lines, a reprise of the beginning follows, which ends in a cadenza for the soloist. Movement two, titled Rituel, is characterized by interplay between the soloist and the band within a stately melody. In the final movement, the theme of the first movement's opening returns. As the indication 'alla marcia' of the last movement suggests, this Allegro Giocoso contains march-like music that guarantees a lively conclusion. With Concertino, Kees Schoonenbeek has written an appealing work that is very suitable for a beginner soloist. Pastorale Symphonique - Jacob de Haan

Jacob de Haan has composed a very interesting concert work with Pastorale Symphonique. Through music the composer reflects on one of today's most important concerns, the adverse effect on the environment caused by man. The work consists of two main themes; one symbolises unspoiled nature and the second the negative influences of man on nature. A constant interaction between both themes develops into a meaningful final "marche funbre".
