Malcolm Arnold's Second Symphony Op.40 was written in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the Bournemouth Municipal Orchestra. The first two movements are featured in this arrangement by Peter Parkes. The Allegretto is in sonata form and expresses the quiet joy of being alive on a fine summer's day.
