"American Dances" is a three movement suite originally composed for the Boston Pops Brass. Each movement features an American popular music genre. "Rag" draws upon the ragtime style most often associated with Scott Joplin and the city of New Orleans. This infectious rag will delightfully challenge your wind sections. Rahoon - Alfred Reed

Rahoon is a rapsodic work for clarinet solo and band by Alfred Reed. Using a poem by James Joyce, a haunting lament to a dead lover called "She Weeps Over Rahoon," as the basis, the work was commmissioned by the University of Delaware for the outstanding young clarinetist Eudgene F. Gonzales. The work has enjoyed many fine performances and recordings, including one by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.

Rain

It is difficult to hear the wonderful motion picture song, "Singin' in the Rain," without conceptualizing Gene Kelly and his umbrella, or "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" without thinking of So taking these two songs and inserting the great "torch" song, "Come Rain or Come Shine," between them gives the listener an unforgettable medley about three wonderful melodies and their relationship to the pleasant, and sometimes disastrous, condition called rain.
