Alpine Adventure - Michael Oare

Portraying the thrill and speed of alpine skiers navigating the demanding Super-G (super giant slalom) downhill course, Alpine Adventure is composed using a single fast tempo and takes the listener through a variety of stylistic moods.The opening and closing segments feature a driving, syncopated style while the middle section features a more lyric melody in 3/4, but still at the energetic, fast pace. An exciting ride for players and listeners alike.

Inspired by an adventure trip into Lake Clark National Park, this work for grade 4 or 5 band was commissioned by Washington & Lee University and premiered in April of 2023. It captures the excitement and drama of a bush-plane flight through the stunning mountains of Alaska's southern range.

Alpine Flowers' Party! - Itaru Sakai

The Hida High School is in a highland city called Takayama in Gifu Prefecture. Takayama City has some of the highest mountains in Japan, atmospheric rows of houses and streets, and a beautiful landscape. The magnificent views from these mountains can be described as a paradise above the clouds. When the composer visited there in the summer of 2001, the lovely flowers spreading through the valley and the refreshing air welcomed him. The flowers looked as if they were fashionably dressed and fully enjoying conversation and a short summer at a reunion party. The composer was inspired by this scenery to compose this piece. The musical party opens with happy greetings of a reunion andjoyful themes follow one after another. A light xylophone solo, a waltz and an adagio featuring alternate solos by alto saxophone, euphonium and trumpet lead to a brilliant finale featuring brass and percussion played in irregular time. A beautiful musical picture that your band will enjoy performing for many years.

Alpine March - Joseph Compello

A delightful German-style march with memorable tunes and full-sounding scoring that will make a young band shine. There is a classic fade-out at the end followed by a short forte in the last measure.
