    Flight - Benjamin Yeo

Flight is a programmatic work that is divided into six short segments, each describing a different aspect of a young pilot's experience in the sky. The motor can be heard starting up. The plane finally takes off and an exciting musical journey gets underway. Breath-taking views, scary turbulence, and finally a full-fledged storm are all part of the view from above. Fortunately all goes well. Special musical effects, such as the sound of the propeller, add a sense of realism to this Flight.

Silk Road (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sheldon, Robert

Take a journey on the Silk Road, the ancient trade route that linked the Far East with the Western world in this imaginative piece by Robert Sheldon. Exotic harmonies combine with driving rhythms and colorful percussion to create a soundscape of shifting sands and faraway lands. A solo alto saxophone references the sound of a Turkish sorna to open the piece, leading to the persistent rhythm and modal melodies. Rock Solid (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Watson, Scott

This version of Rock Solid by Scott Watson is designed with maximum flexibility for use by any mix of instruments: wind, strings, and percussion, including like or mixed-ensembles with as few as 4 players. The suggested instrumentation and a customisable Teacher Map will help you plan out how to best assign parts to suit your ensemble's needs. The 4-part instrumentation will support balanced instrumentation of the lower voices. It also comes with supplemental parts for maximum flexibility. With the purchase of this piece, permission is granted to photocopy the parts as needed for your ensemble. A percussion accompaniment track is also available as a free download. String parts have been carefully edited with extra fingerings and appropriate bowings to support students in mixed ensembles playing in less familiar keys. Scott Watson's original composition features a moderate rock feel and gritty, dissonant harmonies that combine to portray the sound of industry: work gangs laboring with machinery whirring, clanging, grinding, and banging, along with several vocal shouts from the band and a factory whistle! Franarormen (Optional Piano Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Aagaard-Nilsen, Torstein

In 1911, the Australian pianist and composer (and friend of Edvard Grieg), Percy Grainger (1882-1961) went on a tour in Norway. He performed more than forty concerts over a few months. Fifty years later, in 2011, The Royal Norwegian Marine Band made a concert project called "Percy Grainger Revisited Tour". "Franarormen" is a worm or a dragon as described in norse medieval ballads. I have used four different tunes from the region Telemark were Fr?narormen is mentioned in the text. The piece is a musical reflection - not at all as drammatic as the text. It is like a picture of an old fairytale and a dwell on the sound of ancient songs. The piece can be performed without the piano part. Instructions to be found in the percussion parts. - Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen
