Colossus (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
The giant Haymon was a peaceful knight who lived in Inntal (Austria). One day the bloodthirsty giant Thyrsos came and destroyed Haymon's castle. A horrible fight ensued and Haymon, being the better armed, was victorious and slew his adversary. But instead of rejoicing in his success, Haymon felt deep remorse. This remorse led him to seek out a monk and become a Christian, upon which he immediately started building a monastery. Once completed, Haymon joined the monastic order. Two statues at the monastery's entrance stand in remembrance of his victory. A colossal new work for concert band. 10:34

Concerto for Trumpet No.1 'Trumpet Town' (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
A rapid flourish in 12/8 time opens composer Otto M. Schwarz' first Concerto for trumpet Trumpet Town, written in October 2009. The metric changes that follow affect the pulse rhythmically and melodically, in exciting and unexpected ways. The solo trumpet's displays of technical prowess and bravura alternate with the film-score-like tutti sections of the brass ensemble. The slow, almost elegiac, central section can be performed on the flugelhorn, while the closing reprise demands that both the soloist and the orchestra give of their best as the piece comes to an exciting, colourful, and uplifting finale. This unusual concert work, commissioned by the concert band ?Harmonie Concorde? from Sanem in Luxembourg, is built on two basic ideas: the evolution of the economic and social context of this Luxembourg city with its strong mining industry and the European concept, which is clearly present in this very small but prosperous country with its many European institutes. This is musically expressed in a few quotes from the European hymn Ode to Joy, the closing of Beethoven?s Ninth Symphony and from the Te Deum by Charpentier ? widely known as the signature tune for Eurovision broadcasts.
