Perchance To Dream (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bourgeois, Derek
In 1969 I was teaching music at Cranleigh School in Surrey. I was asked to write a work for the orchestra and produced a four-movement piece entitled Concerto for School Orchestra. I have now reworked the music for wind band and re-titled it Perchance to Dream. the piece has a slow introduction followed by a loose sonata form movement in which the introductory material is reintroduced.

SPECTRUM (Prestige Concert Band Extra Score) - Vinter, Gilbert - Newton, Rodney
Extra Score. SPECTRUM. This work caused much consternation when it was used as the brass band test piece at the 1969 British Open Competition. The score is an uncompromising one and as colourful as its title suggests. The various episodes of the work are each named after a colour from the spectrum - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Purple (changed from Violet when Vinter became conscious of his failing health). It is a piece of violent mood swings challenging all sections of the band. Many consider this to be the finest of Vinter's small output for band. Duration: 12:40 Recorded on Polyphonic QPRM151D Time Lines (Great British Music for Wind Band Vol.12)

Footprints on the Moon - Michael Story
This emotional original work celebrates the entire United States space program and specifically the July 20th anniversary of the first lunar landing of Apollo 11 in 1969. The piece opens with a majestic and punctuated theme followed immediately by an inquisitive melody. This is interrupted to pay tribute to those lost in Apollo 1 then resumes and develops towards a glorious and soaring conclusion. A compelling choice! (3:30)
