£60.50Prelude on a Festive Hymn Tune - Donald Coakley
Composer Donald Coakley was asked, by the Pastor of St. William's Roman Catholic Church, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to write a hymn based on verses he had written about the parish's namesake. What developed is this powerful prelude. Fanfares in the trumpets, runs in the upper woodwinds and melodic material throughout the ensemble make this an excellent choice for either concert or contest use.

This work was commissioned by the Concordia wind band and the cho male choir, based in Mige (Valais, Switzerland), to mark their respective centenaries. The piece is a sanguine sounding work entirely based upon variations in several keys of a main hymn. This creates a festive and 'sprituoso' atmosphere throughout this impressive, highly colourful and energetic work. The outer sections are busy and colourful and frame a more expansive, but no less urgent, middle section which develops a large arching oboe and clarinet theme. The work ends as it began, with excitement and exuberance.

Fanfare for a Celebration is a festive work, suitable for any jubilant occasion. The piece begins with a sense of anticipation that builds to the spirited fanfare. After this, the tempo slows as the mood changes to a more dignified and stately version of the opening motif played in a legato style. This section progresses to a return of the fanfare that brings the piece to a triumphant conclusion. There is also a cut which allows for effective performance in a shortened version.

VIEW SCORE PDF This exciting and uplifting processional is the first movement of a festive suite, A Renaissance Christmas, written by Kevin Norbury for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School Wind Symphony. Based on Personent hodie (On this day earth shall ring), this is a short piece imagining a torchlight Yuletide procession (perhaps bearing the traditional roasted wild boar), using a well-known Christmas melody from the large collection of music compiled in the 16th century called Piae Cantiones (1582). The tune is presented twice with accompanying, related melodic material. "100 Years of the Republic of Austria" should be an occasion to reflect on the value of freedom and democracy, precious treasures that don't grow on trees but which have to be fought for again and again. The imperial anthem composed by Franz Josef Haydn, which to this day, survives as the German national anthem, has played a very special role in the story of Austria. It seems that Haydn was inspired by a Croatian folksong. It was sung in Burgenland Croatian areas in various versions under the title "Atal se jesem" ("I am standing"). The composer wrote this piece as a tribute to all people standing up for democracy in the name of mankind. A festive and impressive piece forcelebrational events alike!

Satoshi Yagisawa composed this piece to conjure "Illusion seen through the dawn" of Hokkaido. The work starts with a quiet and beautiful introduction describing the landscape. The music is rising towards a festive, celebrating fanfare, before a deep tranquility descends, towards the end, creating a moment of reflection.
