The holy night of Christmas is celebrated in many cultures throughout the world. Robert W. Smith gives us a new arrangement of the classic carol "O Holy Night" in a Celtic style. Following a beautiful introductory statement, the Irish musical roots come to the fore through percussion and flutes as they create an Irish jig. The clarinets present the melody in the beautiful chalumeau register juxtaposed against the jig. Musical elements from various sources are woven into a rich tapestry of sounds and colors that show the full expressive range of the band. Perfect for contest and festivals! Reflections by Robert Langenfeld, was commissioned by a consortium (alumni/friends/family/UCM Bands/ CTS Pubs) for Dr. Russell Coleman in celebration of his 90th birthday and his service as director of bands at the University of Central Missouri (CMSU) for 32 years. Langenfeld was given guidelines for the composition which included a clarinet soli (Coleman is a clarinetist), excerpts from "Dance Prelude" (commissioned by Dr. Coleman and the UCM Phi Mu Alpha chapter, written by Claude T. Smith for the CMSU (UCM) Band in 1978), the UCM Alma Mater and the UCM fight song, "Go Mules." This work was premiered on June 17, 2018 by the Warrensburg Community Band, under guest conductor, Dr. Anthony Pursell, at the 2018 Missouri Bandmasters Association Summer Convention at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach, MO. Dr. Russell Coleman has been the conductor for the Warrensburg Community Band since 1985. Duration: 5.30

The main theme of this composition was created on a clear, starry night on the 10th of August. While writing it, the Italian composer Angela Ciampani was inspired by her son Lorenzo and the sight of stars over the green hills of Umbria. Initially, it was a short solo for trumpet and piano: subsequently, Jacob de Haan extended and rewrote the composition for euphonium solo and band. This arrangement was created for the celebration of the 170th and 20th anniversaries, respectively, of the concert bands of Monteleone d'Orvieto and Citt della Pieve. Duration: 3.45

Sea of Hope is an optimistic work about new land arisen from the former Zuiderzee (the Netherlands). In the introduction, the sea is conveyed in all its glory and ferocity, through a melody that keeps you wondering whether it makes you happy or sad. Then, finally, there is a glimmer of hope, when the water is dammed up and the land partly reclaimed (by conversion into polder land). The town of Dronten, for instance, develops into a place where one day two people meet up and fall in love. This love is reflected in the slow, passionate middle movement. New life in the town is celebrated joyfully: the zest for life clearly shines through this part of the work, followed by optimism and celebration in the closing bars.Duration: 8.30

Filadelfia is a small town in the province of Vibo Valentia in the southern Italian region of Calabria. In 1783 the town suffered a devastating earthquake. This work depicts the events before and after the disaster, and starts peacefully, with dance-like music sounding in the streets. After this the earthquake destroys everything, causing deep despair. As the title suggests, is a celebration of life's conquering obstacles, specifically of the composer's own personal battle against cancer. Written for the Upper Sandusky High School (Ohio) Wind Ensemble and with the thanks from the composer for the support and opportunity to compose this piece during a very difficult period of time, "Rejoissant!" opens with a slower dramatic fanfare in the brass and percussion. The simple but forceful melody is repeated in several forms throughout the piece, including the beautiful and melodic middle section. This exceptionally emotional and energetic composition is suitable for all concerts and especially festival performances. Duration: 6.00
