Winter Wakeneth All My Care (from When Icicles Hang) (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
John Rutter received an early commission for a piece of music that was seasonal for winter, though not necessarily linked to the Christian traditions of Christmas, in the early '70s. The request came from his friend Russell Burgess, a well-known conductor in the English musical scene and head of the Wandsworth School Boys' Choir through the '60s and '70s. Rutter responded with a six-movement work for orchestra, boys' choir, and mixed chorus, called When Icicles Hang. He chose his texts, characteristically, from Elizabethan and other early English poetry, each text dealing with images from the wintery season, be they the cold, ice-bound landscape and its winds; an older man's weariness in the face of the season; or the contrapuntal pleasures of ale and honey love for those safely inside on winter nights. The movements are: I. Icicles; II. Winter Nights; III Good Ale; IV Blow, blow, thou winter winds; V. Winter wakeneth all my care; VI . Hay, ay. With sparkling orchestration which has been faithfully set for Concert/Wind Band, the work may be performed with chorus as originally written, or may be performed effectively by band alone. The work is available as a complete set of six movements, or each movement may be purchased and performed individually.

Nativity Carol (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
With words and music written by John Rutter, Nativity Carol is one of his earlier and frequently performed carols for Christmas. The beauty and simplicity lends itself to an arrangement for Concert/Wind Band that offers a variety of tonal combinations to interest a young band, and depth of feeling and meaning for the more experienced players. It may be performed with or without a chorus. The arranger is delighted to add this piece to the catalogue, one that will reach out to the players without stretching the limits of their technical abilities.

The Holly and the Ivy (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Cesarini, Franco
The Holly and the Ivy is one of the oldest and most popular of all English Christmas carols. The text refers to Mary and Jesus, but equally to the pre-Christian tradition of celebrating the winter solstice. The melody is thought to originate in 11th Century France. Countless stars, including Charlie Byrd, Petula Clark and Annie Lennox have been inspired to record their own interpretations - just as Franco Cesarini has done with this wonderful arrangement for wind orchestra.Duration: 3:10

Dream Cruise (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Yagisawa, Satoshi
Satoshi Yagisawa has lived in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture in Japan since he was in elementary school. Around Christmas time every year in Ichikawa City, seven Chiba high school bands hold a joint concert. For the 20th anniversary the composer was asked to write a piece to be performed to close the concert. This piece was first performed in 2010 by Tadashi Yoshida, conductor and close friend of Satoshi Yagisawa, with a combined wind orchestra from Chiba Prefectural Kokubun High School, Chiba Prefectural Ichikawa Nishi High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Mutsumi High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Akiyama High School, Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Yakiri High School, Chiba Prefectural Funabashi Nishi High School and Chiba Prefectural Shiroi High School. The title was chosen from suggestions submitted by participating students. Dream Cruise was chosen by Satomi Otsu, a junior in Chiba Prefectural Matsudo Mutsumi High School Wind Orchestra. The composer skillfully scored this piece and created the chorus part so that all the hundreds of students could participate in the performance. This version has been revised so it can be played without the chorus part.Duration: 4.30
