The fourth movement of Robert Buckley's grandly cinematic suite describing impressions of the seas of the moon, Serpent Sea is animated, exuberant and somewhat over-the-top. It was inspired by the idea of two huge winged serpentsrising out of the waves and frolicking together in a wild, barbaric dance. The pair do, however, show a more graceful side every once in a while - represented by an exotic theme that starts in the clarinet and flute. The movementends with a wild flurry as the serpents vanish back into the sea. Dur: 3:50

Based on Percy Granger's choral and brass setting, this British folk song is cast for developing band by Michael Story. If you have a large percussion section, Credo might be a perfect piece for your young band. It is very carefully scored and cross-cued, so that almost any size band can perform it. Composed in sonatina form, it is highly energetic and tuneful, and the bass instruments have lots of fun, easy things to play. Credo is very safely scored, with Piccolo, 2nd Oboe, 2nd Bassoon, Contra-Alto Clarinet, 3rd Trombone and Double Bass parts optional. Ranges are very reasonable; the only sixteenth notes in the piece are in the snare drum.

Claribelle is fairly unique as a solo piece as rather than using one soloist it uses the whole clarinet section to play the solo part. . The composition is characterised by a fast tempo and by a theme which primarily consists of scale patterns that create a virtuoso character. Wim Laseroms wrote the piece in ABA-form with the accompaniment in the middle section having a somewhat more lyric character than that of the first and last sections. In the coda, the solo and the accompaniment join forces and conclude this short work in style with a brilliant fortissimo.
