Misirlou - Traditional
Misirlou became very popular in Western culture because of Dick Dale's American surf rock version in 1962. After that, several versions were recorded and in 1994 Quentin Tarantino reused Dick Dale's version in his film Pulp Fiction. Arguably the most iconic musical moment in this film.

Oros, Little Suite - Daniele Carnevali
This piece was commissioned for the second edition of the "Suoni d'Aspromonte" National Competition which is held in Cittanova in the province of Reggio Calabria. The title, Oros, from the ancient Greek word for "mount", is a clear reference to the Greek culture that colonised Calabria and the magnificence of the Aspromonte massif that dominates the entire region: forests, towns and sea. The piece consists of three movements: Entrata, Serenata and Corteggio, offering rhythms and melodies that reflect present-day tastes rather than local musical traditions. It is specifically intended for bands with lots of young members.

No War - Marco Somadossi
The theme of this composition is immediately evident from the title, which almost requires no further explanation. It will never be possible to represent or reproduce the full implications of a tragedy such as war, all too often forgotten, concealed, exploited or written off as being an evil that is "necessary" for the development of civilisation. War changes the course of human history: man kills man, fathers bury their sons, children take up arms, and mankind is devastated by evil, choosing death over life. The atrocities, repeatedly perpetrated and evident to all observers, are an offence to human dignity. Yet they are tolerated and, at times, even re-interpreted as inevitable remedies for "obstacles" to the global economy, in order- it would seem- to build "a better world". And all this goes on despite the fact that the terrible scars left by past wars are still evident and should serve as a warning to ensure that such tragedies do not return to devastate our world. "No War" is thus a heart-felt protest against any form of culture that justifies war as a means of gaining wealth and power, satisfying the economic needs of the richest countries at the expense of the poorest nations. In so doing the one truly fundamental value is annihilated, that of human life.

Scherzpolka - Thomas Doss
In the somewhat sarcastic Scherzpolka (Joke Polka), the composer does not intend to make fun of Alpine traditions and music but rather of the typical social attitude that does not always do justice to the valuable folk music and culture. Imagine a band that has to play in a beer tent for hours. During the performance the guests treat the musicians to one beer after another. Gradually, the players and the conductor lose control over their instruments and their interpretation of the music. Finally, the performance comes to an end: the Scherzpolka is actually the last piece. There are no limits to the creativity in both the visual and musical aspects during a performance of theScherzpolka!

Ouverture Allemande - Thomas Doss
This festive overture by the Austrian composer Thomas Doss, whose father was German, is intended to be a symbol of the friendship between Germany and Austria, and the countries that border on these two states. In times of union and cooperation, the European thinking should be one of tolerance and openness when it comes to national identities and cultures. European culture has many faces - that is what makes it unique. The shadows of the past, however, should never be forgotten, but they must not obscure the present and the future. Many ghosts wander through this overture, and those who listen carefully will also hear a great master of classical music ghost around. Acreative new opening work for any concert.
