Dancescriptions - Peter Kleine Schaars
Dancescriptions combines many styles derived from pop music with techniques from classical composition. The styles are not the focal point; the true musical definition comes from the interpretation of the transition passages. After the statement of a rhythmic and melodic cell the music is developed from the thematic material in the appropriate style - soul music, disco, merengue, ballad and rock - in the Big Band tradition. The different rhythms and genres are interwoven and combined to create a natural flow in this musical puzzle.

Love in the Garden - Modest Mussorgsky
The most important work by the Russian composer Modest Moussorgsky (1839-1881) is undoubtedly his masterly opera Boris Godunov. A number of years after the composer's death, this opera was re-orchestrated by Rimsky-Korsakov, with his romantic version being quiet different from the original score by Moussorgsky. Refraction - Jan Hadermann
Refraction is a work that uses the entire band and all the colours it can possibly produce. As the title suggests, it was inspired the fascinating physical phenomenon known as refraction. Just like light is split and disbursed into all its colours, the main theme is split into little motives. As the individual motives are disbursed throughout the band, different sections become more prominent, only to recede into the general texture again. The work concludes with the fusion of all these elements in a monumental climax of movement, sound and colour.
