£168.50Psalm for Band - Vincent Persichetti
Psalm for Band is a piece constructed from a single germinating harmonic idea. There are three distinct sections - a sustained chordal mood, a forward moving chorale, followed by a Paean culmination of the materials. Extensive use is made of separate choirs of instruments supported by thematic rhythms in the tenor and bass drums. Psalm was selected for performance at the CBDNA Convention in December 1952 as one of the eight most outstanding compositions for band written in the previous several years. Theodore Presser Company editor Daniel Dorff, on the new Centennial Edition, explains, "The 1954 Elkan-Vogel publication had a full score in a calligrapher's hand that was quiteaccurate, and a set of parts that was problematic in readability and accuracy. The present 2015 edition is faithful to and compatible with the original published score, with carefully and cleanly prepared parts bearing cues, easy page turns, and individual parts for each player."

£256.99Clarinet Concerto - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Mozart originally wrote this concerto for a clarinet with an extended lower range, compared to the conventional instrument. As early as 1802, published versions appeared with registral changes, which made the concerto playable on instruments without the extra keys. When producing an edition for the conventional clarinet there are two choices to be made about the 'extra' notes - is it better to maintain the musical line, and hence transpose whole phrases or passages up an octave, rather than single notes, or is the chalumeau tone more important, in which case it may possibly be better to alter one or two notes to keep the correct octave. In this edition Philip Sparke has usually gonefor the former so the 'sequences' make musical sense, but have taken the second option in some places. This fantastic work will prove popular with soloist, band and audience alike.

This is a new edition of Entry March of the Boyars for which Frederick Fennel has provided a contemporary overview of Halvorsen's distinguished and musical contribution to concert march repertory. Prepared from the primary source, the orchestral score of 1895, there is careful musical reconsideration of the entire score, including a full set of percussion parts and music for the low clarinets. The Fennell edition replaces that by Clifford Barnes previously published by Ludwig Music. The Boyars were Russian aristocrats, also a privileged class in Romania. Originally built to house the annual community harvest festival, the new ornate building opened in 1921 and became a premier venue for area symphonies and concert bands. Fort Dodge (IA) Band rang in the inaugural celebration, under the direction of Karl King, who composed this work for the occasion.In keeping with King's circus march tradition, a bold D minor introduction and first strain leads to a contrasting F major second strain, lyrical trio, and minor key break strain. This new edition condenses the five original trumpet parts into three parts, and re-scores the saxophones to meet modern standards, with additional percussion editing.
