This piece requires a smaller woodwind-brass ensemble without percussion. Penderecki composed the Fanfare for a parish fair in Poland. This short effective piece will be a pleasure to rehearse and perform by any wind orchestra. A special role is assigned to the trumpet 'nella sala' which attracts attention away from the ensemble. Commissioned to celebrate the sesquicentennial of the state of West Virginia, Forever Free incorporates indigenous elements of the state's musical heritage, capturing a robust and celebratory spirit. Cast in a single movement inthree sections, the title is inspired by the state motto, Montani semper liberi (Mountaineeers forever free). The work is unified at the outset and closing by a ceremonial fanfare that is based on thematic figures from the statesong West Virginia Hills. A contrasting middle section features a lyric variant accompanied by a militaristic snare drum and timpani cadence, before all thematic elements are combined for the buoyant and festive conclusion. 'Christmas Colours' is a palette consisting of several Christmas songs. Bruce Fraser has mainly used the colours green (the colour of holly) and white (the colour of snow). This composition begins with the chiming of festive bells - if you listen well, however, you can already hear short fragments from 'The Holly and the Ivy', whose entire melody is finally played, alternated with 'The Sussex Carol'. After this, the pace slows down and the stately 'See amid the Winter Snow' sounds, but parts from 'Jingle Bells' and 'Silent Night' can also be heard. Then, after walking under 'The Holly and the Ivy' once again, the celebration of Christmas may begin!

Philip Sparke selected two well-known marches from the region around Southern Belgium and Luxembourg as the basis for his March Celebration: after we hear an original march theme and second theme in the bass, extracts from the Hmmelsmarsh (Hammelmarsch) and the spirited Marsch der Ardennen-Jger, which has become a kind of unofficial national anthem in these parts. This festive march is rounded off with another appearance of Philip Sparke's original theme.
