Partita (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
Xylophones ahoy! John Rutter's Partita of 1976, is not a piece you might necessarily have expected from the renowned composer of some of the classics of contemporary sacred choral music. Yet this is a giant of a piece that allows everyone in the ensemble to truly shine, and one which surely will become a significant addition to the repertoire of the Concert Band. With hints of Gershwin, and filled with joy, majesty, wonder, and power, it will excite your ensemble and capture your audience. The original orchestra composition was written for, and dedicated to, the London Junior Orchestra.

Trumpeter's Lullaby (Trumpet Trio with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Anderson, Leroy - Iwai, Naohiro
According to music critic Mark Azarra, Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) was "one of the four best composers of instrumental music in the 20th century, next to George Gershwin, Aaron Copland and Charles Ives". Many of his nostalgic songs such as Sleigh Ride and Blue Tango are firmly embedded in the American popular music culture. In 1945 at the request of Roger Voisin, the principal trumpeter of the Boston Pops Orchestra, Anderson wrote the Trumpeter's Lullaby. This version for concert band by will be a sure winner.

Sevens (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hazo, Samuel R.
Best described as a jazz-flavored "barnburner" for wind symphony, Sam Hazo's exciting work pays homage to the innovative concepts of George Gerswhin and an appreciation for modern day jazz composer Gordon Goodwin. "Sevens" refers to the common jazz chord of the 7th as well as number of notes in the phrase, time signatures, etc. Strangely enough, both Gershwin and Goodwin share the same initials (G.G.), have 7 letters in their names, and the letter "G" is the 7th letter of the alphabet! Let it rip. Duration: 3:50
