All Things... (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fitzpatrick, Craig

All things... for concert band, is a setting of the traditional tune All Things Bright and Beautiful. The melody, while undergoing quite a few variations and transformations, still remains true to the original lyric quality hymn tune. Initially, the hymn is fragmented and slowly is presented in larger pieces as the work progresses. At the climax of the piece a clear and exuberant presentation of the original tune can be heard. The piece then concludes by returning to where it began by fragmenting the melody again and fading into the distance. Duration: 4.00

Fanfare for Hope - A. Eric Heukeshoven

Fanfare for Hope was commissioned in honor of the inauguration of Father James P. Burns, the 14th President of Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. The fanfare is based on the hymn tune Melita, more commonly known as the Navy Hymn, Eternal Father, Strong to Save, with the text "My hope is built on nothing less ..." serving as the inspiration for the piece. The opening brass fanfare features the uplifting first notes of the tune transitioning into a legato treatment for the woodwinds and horns. The theme builds as the brass and percussion eventually return leading back to the original fanfare. The music ends triumphantly with the entire ensemble joining in celebration.

While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Willcocks, David - Noble, Paul

While shepherds watched their flocks is a Christmas carol describing the Annunciation to the Shepherds, with words attributed to Irish hymnist, lyricist and England's Poet Laureate Nahum Tate. The exact date of Tate's composition is not known, but the words appeared in Tate and Nicholas Brady's 1700 supplement to their New Version of the Psalms of David of 1696. It was the only Christmas hymn authorised to be sung by the Anglican Church; before 1700 only the Psalms of David were permitted to be sung. In the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, the standard hymn tune of While shepherds watched is Winchester Old (initially simply Winchester), originally published in Este's psalter The Whole Book of Psalmes from 1592. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

A Repton Fantasy (Flexible Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Parry, Hubert C. - Sparke, Philip

for Bb or Eb SoloistSir Hubert Parry (1848-1918) belongs to a forgotten generation of English composers who are often over-shadowed by Sir Edward Elgar, and the result has been that much of their work is little played or forgotten. In Parry's case, he is now mostly remembered for his hymn tunes, such as Jerusalem and Repton, both marvellous melodies, of course. The latter first appeared in Parry's oratorio Judith and was adapted as a hymn tune after the composer's death. The solo part can be played by a trumpet, clarinet or alto saxophone and will give your chosen soloist a chance to shine.Duration: 3:00
