A Medieval Christmas (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip

Christmas is full of customs and traditions, both old and new. This is especially evident in Christmas songs, some of which have been part of Christian worship for centuries. A Medieval Christmas combines three ancient melodies that are still popular around the world today. Philip Sparke chose Gaudete, a song of praise from the middle ages, Coventry Carol, an English song from the 14th century, and In dulci jubilo, which can also be traced back to the 14th century, to form this joyous suite.Duration: 6:45

Medieval Fanfare and Chant (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Story, Michael

This piece is based entirely upon Perotin's "Viderunt Omnes." A member of the Notre Dame School, Perotin was a pioneer in three- and four-voice polyphony. "Viderunt Omnes" is one of the few remaining pieces of organum quadruplum known to exist. "Medieval Fanfare and Chant" alternates between the literal presentation of the music and a more contemporary setting of the themes, going back and forth until the final grandiose statement.Duration: 3.45

    Medieval Festival - Randy Navarre

Imagine it is the 12th century. You are of the nobility. You are going down the street to the castle for the festival. It will be a grand time. In the meantime, the poor are, as usual, left out. You pass them along the street. There is sadness, but then you are there, at the gates of the castle. You enter, the festivities begin, and you have a wonderful evening. Enjoy a bit of medieval festival humor. 1st trumpet's highest note is D. No clarinets cross the break.

Tales of a Medieval Warrior - Travis J. Weller

This short three-movement work chronicles the epic life of a medieval knight in dramatic fashion. The first movement, A Call for Knights, portrays the sounding trumpets calling forth the knights. The expressive second movement, Courting a Lady, is a delightful opportunity to showcase some chamber music within the full ensemble. Brash and bold fanfares open the third movement, Winning the Joust, as the knight rides to victory atop unrelenting statements for the winds and driving percussion parts. Epic!
