Castlebay
This fresh new setting of two traditional Scottish folk songs, Will Ye No Come Back Again and Keel Row, was written in honor of its namesake, the Scottish village Castlebay. Composer Gene Milford has crafted a well-scored offering for contest/festival performance that is reminiscent of English-style band pieces. After the striking opening, the piece moves to the more fiddle-like Keel Row in a lilting 6/8. All of the sections of the ensemble get to shine and the band will sound formidable with this piece.

The Spirit of an Eagle
This is one of Larry Clark's most successful and performed pieces. It is a standard overture with a glorious slower B section, and is already on the required music lists for many states (including Texas and Florida). Now it can be performed by a band with instrumentation problems in this new flexible scoring edition. As few as five players and percussion can perform a full-sounding version of this wonderful work. Antagonist
In every great story there is always an antagonist, the character of opposing force who is central to the success of the story. Larry Clark has applied this concept to music in a new beginning band piece, fascinating in sound and an excellent cross-curricular tie with English classes, musically illustrating the structure of a good story. This piece is aggressive and at times, purposely antagonizing. Designed with the youngest of players in mind, it works on simple repeated eighth note patterns as the foundation for the melodic material. As is typical in a Larry Clark piece, interesting parts are provided for all instruments, and everyone gets to play the melody.
