Just As You Are (Concert Band - Score Only) - Wiffin, Rob

Just as you are is a laid back, almost 'smoky', number where the relaxed tempo and 'bluesy' notation is prevalent. The piece is structured in ABA form that offers the listener a sense of familiarity when the opening theme returns. This is a contrasting item that leans on the saxophone section to provide a beautifully calm, unhurried feel.

Escapades (from Catch Me if You Can) (Concert Band - Score only) - Williams, John - Bulla, Stephen

Steven Spielberg's 2002 film Catch Me If You Can was set in the 1960s, and John Williams created a marvelous film score evoking the style of the progressive jazz movement popular during that time. Soloists on alto saxophone, vibraphone and string bass are featured in this suite of three contrasting movements. "Closing In" relates to the often humorous sleuthing ever present in the story. This is followed by "Reflections" portraying the fragile family relationships, and finally "Joy Ride" representing the main character's wild flights of fantasy. Duration: 14.00

Lift Off (Concert Band - Score Only) - Meechan, Peter

Lift Off! is a short suite of descriptive pieces, all inspired by a short flight from Manchester, England to Brussels. In the first movement we hear the engine start, and after the plane has moved into position, it takes off. The second movement depicts the beautiful view of the clouds from above. It all seems timeless and you don't even feel as if you are moving. The last movement starts nervously (I'm not a great flier!), as the plane begins its descent from the sky. However, as we land safely back on earth, the piece ends in a flurry of excitement and triumph, returning to a theme heard in the first movement.

Silver Screen (Concert Band - Score Only) - Hart, Paul

Hart, Paul's tongue-in-cheek piece is an inevitably programmatic version of a silent film score. We can hear the story unfold from the opening credits to a clown-like hero and his beautiful heroine to the villain who ties her to the train tracks. If you like Cartoon, you will love Silver Screen.

Sounds and Rounds for Band (Concert Band - Score Only) - Brand, Geoffrey

If you have ever stood before a Concert Band and wondered how you may best help them to sound better then SOUNDS will help. SOUNDS are exercises designed to improve DYNAMICS, RHYTHM, CRESCENDO and DIMINUENDO, INTERVALS, RESTS and ACCENTS. The exercises can also be used for warm-up purposes. They are interesting to play whilst creating an awareness of some of the fundamentals of good performance. ROUNDS are a form of Canon in unison (or octaves) with the players entering at regular rhythmic periods. The first Rounds were printed in 1609 so people have enjoyed performing this form of music for a very long time and still do. Kookaburra comes from Australia, Row Row Row the Boat is English, Frre Jacques is French and in this version a variation on the original melody has been added which also works as a round and adds to the fun. A full score has been provided in order to facilitate rehearsal.
