Flight - Claude T. Smith
Flight is the official march of the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. It was commissioned by the Air Force Band in 1984 and was premiered by the organization in November of that year. Their recording can be still heard as visitors enter the museum. A highly descriptive work, it incorporates the Pachelbel Canon by request in the opening section before the brass introduces a soaring theme. Sweeping reeds, active percussion and melodic brass are featured in preparation for a most electrifying 6/8 section. Brass fanfares of particular brilliance bring the work to its exciting conclusion.

Trouble at Santas Workshop - Porter Eidam
Santa bought a newfangled toy assembly machine, and the elves have been assigned to keep this beast running! The percussion section gets to take center stage as they portray this contraption that continually breaks down despite the frustrated elves frantic efforts to keep it going. The favorite carol Jolly Old St. Nicholas (and a slight nod to Mr. Pachelbel) acts as the musical adhesive that holds this amusing holiday adventure together. Enjoy!

Partita Piccola - Henk van Belcum
As the title suggests, this work is a partita: it consists of a number of variations on a chorale melody. The partita has been popular for centuries, especially when it comes to organ music. Henk van Belcum, who is active in the choir world, chose for his Partita Piccola the German hymn Wunderbarer Knig as a starting point. Partita Piccola consists of four variations and a choral setting. After a majestic opening fanfare, the second variation follows, based on a canon by Pachelbel. Hndel's Sarabande is the basis of the third variation. Next comes the chorale setting, after which the work ends festively with a dance that has been written in the form of a courante. PartitaPiccola is an asset for church services and for concert platforms.

Sonata da Chiesa - Kees Schoonenbeek
Sonata da Chiesa for organ and wind orchestra is a work in three movements. The first movement presents three melodic lines which are developed in turn. The second movement introduces a theme by Johann Pachelbel followed by several variations on the theme - a technique favoured by Kees Schoonenbeek. The third movement is a neo-Baroque rondo which introduces thematic elements from the first movement. This is a work rich in colour and sound.
