The late Luther Henderson was a master arranger with a long list of credentials, including behind-the-scenes collaborator for many years with Duke Ellington. In addition, he served as a primary arranger for the Canadian Brass, creating over 130 arrangements for this storied brass ensemble. Mars 1488 was commissioned by the Commander of the Naval Forces on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy in 2010. The title refers to the year 1488, in which the 'Dutch Fleet' was founded. It was premiered at the annual corps concerts at De Doelen in Rotterdam on 1 and 2 December 2010.Since then, this march has been much loved by both the Marine Band and the public and has been performed frequently at home and abroad.March 1488 has been available from Molenaar Edition since 2024 for both concert band and fanfare band.

Although the roots of this British folksong date back to the 18th century, the first publication of the melody was in the late 1850's in the collection "National English Airs". Early One Morning is the story of a young woman misused by her lover, as overheard by the singer. In the mid-1930's the tune was adapted as a military slow march called "The Globe and Laurel" for the Royal Marines band. This arrangement focuses on the lyricism of the original with just a hint of its later military associations. Only the 1st clarinets cross the break. 1st trumpet's highest note is F.

Reminiscencia Gitana - André Waignein
Reminiscencia Gitana was originally a piano piece. Andr Waignein wrote the piece for the Spanish pianist Blanca Quevedo, a student of his at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels. This work has all the elements that make a composition interesting: melody, virtuosity and most importantly the 'Gitana' (gypsy) character. Each section follows on without interruption making a contrasting whole that will captivate both players and audience until the last note.

Flicien Doyen, the President of the Tornacum Royal Choir Circle of Tournai (Belgium) and a close friend of the composer commissioned this Mass. Missa Tornacum was originally composed for mixed choir and organ, gave a memorable performance of thepiece in the Chartres Cathedral in France.Although it does not include the Credo, the work is composed according to the traditional structure of a Mass in five parts : Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, and Ite missa est. En the first two parts, adialogue is created between the choir and the band. It is followed by the Sanctus cycle ("Sanctus" - "Hosanna" - "Benedictus"), which is remarkable for the contrasts between the tone colorscharacterizing each of its three parts. The fourth part,Agnus Dei, takes on a tone of serene intimacy. A free counterpoint draws this section to a close by fading into an almost imperceptible quietness. Ite missa est begins with a series of imitations, which develop into a majestic and cheerful passagemarking the end of the Mass. Choir parts are available separately.

"Courtly Procession and Dances" brings the royal courts of medieval Europe to life at your next concert! The work opens with a stately brass and percussion fanfare. The courtly procession follows, and is played by the full ensemble. A slower, lyrical dance contrasts with the procession and eventually leads into a light-hearted and lively dance featuring very playable woodwind lines. The work concludes with a restatement of the processional. "Courtly Procession and Dances" is fresh, highly melodic, and great for variety in concert programming.
