Serenata (Euphonium Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan
While composing Serenata, Jan Van der Roost didn't focus too much on virtuosity, acrobatics or spectacle. Instead, he wanted to let the solo instrument shine as a melodic and expressive voice. And indeed: the warm sound of the euphonium touches the heart of the audience straight away in the first section with a melodious theme. Then follows a rigaudon, a noble and elegant dance from the Renaissance era. Despite the fact that some of the variations on the main theme require some technique and agility, the overall character mostly remains songful. The composition as a whole builds further on these two musical ingredients, but thanks to a clever alternation of melodic and technical passages, it offers a nice stylistic diversity to the listeners. The band is definitely not 'just accompanying' but fully participates and begins a dialogue with the soloist: both musical partners have their say. The end is more spectacular and sonorous, giving an extra boost of energy to the soloist as well as the band in a grand finale!Duration: 12.00

Shamadan Dance (Euphonium Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Doss, Thomas
The Shamadan is an old oriental folk dance full of symbolism in which a female dancer, often on the occasion of a wedding, balances a candelabra on her head as a token of spiritual light. In this work, the euphonium takes up the role of the dancer. At the very beginning, the soloist already has the opportunity to shine in an unaccompanied recitative. Next, the soloist and band alternate, and in the course of the work the band also plays an important part with various technical highlights. More variation is created with a solo passage accompanied by percussion and hand claps, culminating beautifully in a grand tutti towards the end of the piece. Challenging music with much to enjoy! I Believe in Springtime (Trumpet Solo (or Childrens Choir) with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
I Believe in Springtime is a celebration of life, with text and music by John Rutter. The original scoring was for children's choir, optional SATB chorus, and small orchestra. This arrangement maintains the original elements, with children's choir, optional SATB chorus, and band. In the absence of the children's choir, the arrangement is scored for solo trumpet, with the SATB parts performed by various sections of the band. Either way, the simple beauty of the melody gives this piece an air of refreshment to the meaning and beauty of life.

La Chica Sin Nombre (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A vibrant, rhythmic solo for trombone and band. La Chica sin Nombre was written in March 2020 at the request of Brett Baker. He wanted something in Latin style so I chose to go for a Mambo-type dance piece. This obviously works best with band accompaniment where I would always ask for Conga drums and Mambo Bell/Timbales rather than drum kit. The piece needs to be played with an appropriate feel for Latin music. It should sound light and easy to play but has a few tricky moments! Duration: 4.15

Memento (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Buckley, Robert
2nd Movement of A Tribute to Arthur DelamontFamed bandmaster Arthur Delamont always programmed a hymn in his concerts and Memento is an homage to that proud tradition. Starting with a simple and reverent solo trumpet and introducing other brass instruments one by one, the introduction has the sound of a brass band. The woodwinds join in and, with the use of rich textures and dynamic scoring, the work builds to a powerful climax and then resolves once again with the solo trumpet. Ideal for festival use, Memento will give your ensemble an opportunity to explore expression and nuance. The second movement of A Tribute to Arthur Delamont, Memento was commissioned by the West Vancouver Youth Band.Duration: 4:00

Concerto for Wind Ensemble (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Husa, Karel
Commissioned by the Michigan State University Alumni Band, this three movement work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Karel Husa was the winner of the first Louis Sudler International Wind Band Composition Competition in 1983. Previously available only in rental, this important work is now available for sale.A note from the composer: Divided into three movements, this work is a display of virtuoso passages given to solo instruments as well as to the groups of the ensemble. In the Fanfare of the first movement, the brass section "concertizes" in groups of four brass quintets (2 trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba or baritone), spread from left to right in back. The saxophones (S, A, T, B) are placed in front of the brass quintets, and the woodwinds occupy the front of the stage, with percussion on the left and right side. These groups, like the brass quintets, play in the concertante style, particularly in the first and last movements. At the same time, each movement contains individual solo passages (for example, timpani and flute in Movement I - "Drum Ceremony" and English horn and other low woodwinds in Movement II - "Elegy"). The composition of this piece was prompted by the excellence of wind and percussion players today, and by the incredible growth of wind ensembles, orchestras, and bands in the last 25 years. It is intended for their enjoyment.Duration: 23:00
