Engelberg Variations (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Harbinson, William G.
Engelberg Variations was composed for the Hibriten High School Band in Lenoir, North Carolina and is based on the hymn, "When In Our Music God Is Glorified." It opens with a flourish of activity from the brass and percussion. This gives way to the statement of the theme set in a lovely woodwind chorale featuring flutes and oboes. A lyrical trumpet solo takes the band to a soaring tutti statement of the theme which gets interrupted by a percussion-filled staccato variation. Fragments of the theme are then heard in fun variations juxtaposed against the original theme in augmentation. Engelberg Variations is destined to become a classic! Duration: 6.45

My Ain Folk (Vocal Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Lemon, Laura Gertrude - Wiffin, Rob
An arrangement of the well-known Scottish song for soprano and band. This highly popular Scottish song (subtitled A Ballad of Home) was in fact composed by a Canadian, Laura Gertrude Lemon (15 October 1866 - 18 August 1924) who lived and worked in England, with words by a Londoner Wilfred Mills (the pen name of William Alfred Braund) who never set foot in Scotland. It was first published in 1905 and has subsequently become a favourite for Scots remembering their homeland when far away from home. This arrangement is for soprano for band and was featured on the RAF Massed Bands Tour 1999 and recorded on Festival of Music 1999 Polyphonic QPRM 133D.Duration: 2.00

CELEBRATION (Concert Band) - Woolfenden, Guy
Three Movements:RondoValseTristeMarchThis work was commissioned as a celebration of the life and work of Murray Slater, the inspirational musical director of Derbyshire City & County Youth Wind Band, who sadly died in 2000. Murray was greatly loved and respected in the wind and brass band world, was a fine trumpeter and teacher, and was universally known as "Man of Music".Celebration attempts to capture facets of Murray's personality. The Rondo's theme has a witty rhythmic twist to it, the Valse Triste features a solo trumpet, and the concluding March contrasts a Prokofievian theme with a slower "big tune" that attempts to match the stature of the man.The first performance took place on 12th July 2002 in Chesterfield with the Derbyshire City & County Youth Wind Bands, conducted by the composer.Duration 15 minutes

FESTIVO (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Gregson, Edward
As the title suggests, Festivo is a festive piece, exuberant in style and lasting some six minutes. Throughout, there is much emphasis on rhythm and the scoring utilises many solo and chamber-like textures. It is cast in rondo form with a longish introduction which announces in fragmented form some of the main ideas. The main theme is light-hearted and exuberant, heard first on clarinets but immediately tossed around the band. The first episode starts quietly but gradually adds layer upon layer of repeated fragments until the whole band is heard. The final statement of the rondo tune is heralded by Tubular Bells and bell-like chords on the brass, after which a short coda brings the work to an exciting conclusion. Duration: 6:00

GAELFORCE (Concert Band) - Graham, Peter
Gaelforce follows in Cry of the Celts style, and using three traditional folk tunes exploits the colour and variety of the modern wind band. Firstly, the slip jig, The Rocky Road to Dublin features the woodwind section. The Minstrel Boy, and the final reel, Tossing the Feathers, have both recently enjoyed renewed popularity courtesy of The Corrs. The Minstrel Boy here features the solo flugel horn in contrast with woodwind choir and mellow voices, while Tossing the Feathers is something of a tour de force for drums, woodwind, and eventually the whole band.

Heroic Etude (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Back in the day I always enjoyed playing the well-known trombone works by Alexandre Guilmant and Ferdinand David and I wanted to return to that type of language and writing in a short concert piece. The music is direct in its expression, mostly exciting but sometimes expressive. The pace of this tude is relentless and requires some deft double tonguing although I stayed away from too many running semiquavers. The last note should ideally be the high D (concert) but a B flat is indicated as a suitable alternative.- Rob WiffinDuration: 3.45

Illuminations (Alto Saxophone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bocook, Jay
Here is a terrific way to feature your alto sax soloist with band on a "non-pop" piece of music that is not too difficult. Jay Bocook's original features band parts that are easy to learn and a soloist part that sounds flashy but lays well under the fingers. Great for adding variety to any program. Duration: 4:15
