There are opportunities abound for every member of the wind orchestra to play a convincing role in the drama. The intention of the Brass Band work was to use more of Paganini than his time honoured melody (from his twenty-fourth Caprice with a set of fourteen variations), but would also attempt to recreate in modern terms something of the wild and romantic spirit of the times.
