Terra Australis (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Ellerby, Martin
In 2005 The Royal Marines Band Service commissioned Martin Ellerby for a Wind Band transcription of Terra Australis. Originally commissioned by the YBS Band, in consultation with their professional conductor Professor David King, for their 2005 tour of Australia, the composer has constructed this single-movement work by using three elements of Australian life. A dramatic illusion of the country's natural wonders and landscape, the spirit of Captain Cook's voyage in Endeavour and finally a salute to Australia's fallen in overseas wars.Duration: 11:30

Second Symphony (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Barnes, James
Premiered by the University of Kansas Symphonic Band with Robert E. Foster conducting, this work was presented the 1982 Neil A. Kjos Memorial Award for the most significant contribution to wind band music. It consists of three movements: an "Elegia" in sonata form, "Variazioni Interrotte" (Interrupted Variations), and a "Finale" in classic sonata form concluding in a coda which ends the symphony in a final, dramatic, colorful outburst, the sort of pure musical energy that only a modern symphonic band can produce. Movements: I. Elegia, II. Variazioni Interrotte, III. Finale. Duration: 22.00

Concerto For Timpani And Band (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Jacob, Gordon
The nature of the timpani means that musical development is rhythmic rather than tonal. In the first movement, a broad theme is announced by the timpani themselves, and immediately echoed and modified by the full wind band. Material is embroidered by woodwinds and developed by the soloist. The second movement (Adagio) is virtually an aria in which we are left with an expressive mood conjured from the timpani themselves. The last movement is a romp - characteristic use of quasi-folk material is well suited to the band and the rhythmic characteristics of the timpani are highlighted.

CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION (Prestige Concert Band Extra Score) - Barry, Darrol
Extra Score. Cause for Celebration opens with a fanfare-style idea, followed by two quieter ideas before the fanfare returns, the music moving without a break into the celebration proper. The main idea of the Allegro is an energetic theme for full band which is interspersed with contrasting sections of the band. Eventually the opening fanfare returns but is interrupted by a short, but lively, coda. Recorded on Polyphonic QPRM151D TIME LINES (Great British Music for Wind Band Vol.12)
