    Power Play - Thomas Doss

The composer has dedicated this piece to hischildren. From a parent's point of view, childhoodpasses by too quickly. However, at other times thedays seem endless - particularly those days whenchildren keep their parents so busy and pushed tothe limit that they don't know if they're coming orgoing. Scraped knees, crayoned walls and ravagedplayrooms are the ingredients for a battle of wills -a real "power play." However, one enchantingsmile from a child is enough to make the hardwork worth it. This piece was written in the middleof teddy bears, toy cars and Lego bricks.

The Monster Under the Bed - Robert Sheldon

What child hasn't imagined frightening creatures lurking in their rooms at bedtime? This imaginative and delightful composition helps to put a more comical and friendly face on this monster, employing a jaunty melody, whole-tone harmonies, and the use of sound-tubes that produce an eerie and "monstrous" sound when whirled over the head. This is sure to be a hit with players and audience alike. The perfect novelty for any concert, and even more so if your concert is in late October! (2:15)

Angelo del Cielo - Giacomo Puccini

The one-act opera Suor Angelica is set in the cloisters of an Italian convent at the end of the seventeenth century. Of noble birth, Angelica has been a nun for seven years, forced there by her family as punishment for an unknown sin. When her aunt visits her, she tells Angelica that her child had died. This terrible news becomes the reason for her only aria, Senza Mamma, a heart-wrenching song of restraint and dignity to her little 'angel in heaven' (Angelo del Cielo). The set contains solo parts, for soprano voice, cello and a duet for soprano and cello. There is also an optional solo part for trombone or euphonium.
