Scarborough Fair, Variations on (Concert Band - Score and parts) - Custer, Calvin
First published in 1989, this work from the late Calvin Custer epitomises his command of orchestration and understanding of musical pacing. The familiar folk melody is stated first by a solo flute then followed by a remarkable series of variations starting with a brass choir accompanied by woodwind flourishes. An Andante variation features the woodwind choir accompanying solos by baritone and oboe, and this leads to a striking fugue variation and bold finish. Truly symphonic band writing at its best.Duration: 4:45

The old Fortress of Luxembourg - Georges Sadeler
"The Old Fortress of Luxembourg" is a commissioned work by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture for the overture of the official ceremony of Luxembourg's National Day. The piece is less concerned with history, but rather draws inspiration from the architecture of the ancient fortress of Luxembourg, known as Lucilinburhuc."The fortress, over 1000 years old and also referred to as the "Gibraltar of the North," primarily consists today of the Bock Rock, the crypt, the casemates (an underground defense system consisting of kilometers of tunnels), and the Holy Spirit Citadel. These elements are portrayed through radiant fanfare sounds, rhythmic orchestral movements, patriotic choral melodies, and at times, somber musical depictions. As an optional highlight, a choir, supported by a boys' choir, interprets the newly composed text of the third verse of the Luxembourgish National Anthem, adding an additional touch of patriotic grandeur to this piece.

Har du fyr? - Ola Bremnes
This arrangement was made for The Suoni Wind Orchestra of Skien, Norway, and performed for the first time at their Promenade Concert "At Sea" at the Ibsen Culture Center, March 8th 2014, being the final number of the concert. Participating this concert was also the Choir Canto Libre and the two vocal soloists were Eli Kristin Hansveen and Andreas Hoff. Since that time this arrangement has been used also at other concerts involving choir and soloists. It is important that tempo is not too slow and one has to be thorough with details in the percussion parts. I have tried to paint a musical picture of the sea, as an eternal power, shifting from the quiet and lazy to thepowerful and majestic with crushing waves and stormy winds, as Ola Bremnes describes it in his fantastic lyrics. - yvind Strand - Solo Options: Vocal Soprano Sax Alto Sax Tenor Sax Trumpet Flugelhorn Euphonium (TC/BC)

Transeamus Usque Bethlehem (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schnabel, Joseph Ignaz - Van der Beek, Wil
The German composer Joseph Ignaz Schnabel (1767-1831) was a descendant of a musical family. During his lifetime he occupied several musical posts including Violinist, Organist, Concertmaster, Conductor, Music Teacher and managing director of the Royal Institute for Church Music. Schnabel composed masses, hymns, vespers, military music and a clarinet concerto. His choir work Transeamus usque Bethlehem is still widely performed and Wil van der Beek has produced this excellent arrangement for concert band which does justice to the original.Duration: 4:00

The Seventh Day
Based on the hymn tune "My Shepherd Shall Supply My Need", this fantasia is a musical reflection of the biblical account of The Creation. A powerful programmatic piece that opens with the woodwind choir and as the piece develops the mood shifts to excitement and a feeling of exhilaration. The tension and musical drama is brought to a conclusion only in the last measure as the climax is suspended for a long electric moment with the decay of a single chime tone. Without a doubt this is David Shaffer's most aggressive work to date. Highly Recommended.

Maisha ni Zawadi (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Utbult, Jan
An original piece based on the African musical tradition. Maisha ni Zawadi is Swahili and means life is a gift. The arrangement of the chorus is based on how an East African choir would have performed the song. The song is based a lot on the percussion groove, and is particularly suitable for bands and ensembles that want to show off the percussion section. Here it is possible to let many people play African rhythms on various percussion instruments.Duration: 2.00
