Variations on Blue Bells of Scotland

This folk song has been arranged in a theme and variations format for a variety of solo instruments (either a flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, or trombone/euphonium). The band plays the accompaniment figures as well as the break strains. The solo part is very reasonable and sounds harder than it is (about a Grade 3 1/2). This is great piece for showing off that talented soloist in your ensemble.

    Caderna - A. D'Arcangelo / arr. Col. Arnald Gabriel

This Grand Italian March, a longtime favorite of its editor, introduces the new Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel Series. While the march does call for two euphonium parts, there is only one part each for flute, oboe, bassoon, two parts only for B-flat clarinet and cornet, and only three for F horns. Keys are E-flat and A-flat, another strong point for accessibility.

    The Lakes - Robert Sheldon

Written in two distinct sections, , by Robert Sheldon, opens with a lyrical theme reminiscent of many much-loved American hymns and gospel tunes. Important parts appear in all parts, but feature the bells, chimes, and euphonium. The second half of the piece is a British-style march, starting with a brief percussion interlude, and gradually adding wind instruments until the full band finishes the march with all the enthusiasm it can muster!
