The arrangements and compositions in these books were written by Adrian Taylor for various beginner or school bands that he has conducted over the years. Children joined these bands on the 2nd parts, usually having only been playing for a year and they then progressed to the 1st parts the following year.This volume of music was orchestrated a little differently to the other volumes but the easiest parts for each instrument continue to be written without key signatures in treble clef, in B flat major for bass clef trombone and euphonium and in E flat major for bass clef tuba. More advanced parts are written with the appropriate key signatures for each piece, reflecting the greater understanding and skills of the players on these parts. Most of the pieces can be played with only a few parts being covered, the addition of the other parts usually enhancing the arrangement rather than simply doubling existing musical lines. The essential parts are the Trumpet (and Clarinet or Cornet) parts, the two Trombone/Euphonium parts and in No. 4, the 1st Horn part. A piano part helps to fill out the harmonies where other parts are missing. The brass parts in the wind band versions are identical to those in the brass versions. This volume was created so that beginner players can play Calypso and When The Saints, which feature in Just Play... Book 1, accompanied by their school band.

Storbystev has a catchy tune, and incorporates a mix of funk-, samba- and rock rythms. The alto saxophone and trumpet are featured as soloists, but the piece also show-cases the tuba- and percussion sections.The piece works especially well as a concert opener (or the first piece after an interval). One can start the piece with only the triangle-player on stage, and the rest of the band can take their places and join in when ready.Storbystev was written for the Oslofjord Brass Band and their participation in the Siddis Brass entertainment contest in Stavanger in 1996. The band won the first section that year.Published with support from Norwegian Society of Composers.

Five Elizabethan Dances is drawn from the music that sets the scene and provides the accompaniment for the Ballroom Scene from Don Freund's Romeo and Juliet: A Shakespearean Music Drama for singing actors and piano. Commissioned by the Michigan State University Alumni Band, this three movement work by Karel Husa was the winner of the first Louis Sudler International Wind Band Composition Competition in 1983. A note from thecomposer: 'Divided into three movements, this work is a display of virtuoso passages given to solo instruments as well as to the groups of the ensemble. In the Fanfare of the first movement, the Brass section concertises in groupsof four Brass quintets (2 Trumpets, Horn, Trombone and Tuba or Baritone), spread from left to right in back. The Saxophones (SATB) are placed in front of the Brass quintets, and the Woodwinds occupy the front of the stage, withPercussion on the left and right side. These groups, like the Brass quintets, play in the concertante style, particularly in the first and last movements. 'At the same time, each movement contains individual solo passages(for example, Timpani and Flute in Movement I - Drum Ceremony and English Horn and other low Woodwinds in Movement II - Elegy). The composition of this piece was prompted by the excellence of Wind and Percussion players today, andby the incredible growth of Wind ensembles, orchestras, and bands in the last 25 years. It is intended for their enjoyment.'
