Story Book - Daniele Carnevali
The piece, commissioned in 2001 by the Banda Civica di Soncino, is one of several works that have been specifically written for this prestigious wind orchestra by a number of well-known North European composers. "Story Book" is inspired by a group of tales that are a mixture of history and legend- the former based on historical facts, the latter on traditional beliefs- all connected with life in Soncino (a farming and industrial community in the Cremona plain). The tales are all involves events in the castle (which is still in very good condition) and life at court during the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance period. As the piece develops, it recounts the legend of strange presences in the castle tower (Phantom of the red tower), the bloody battle against invaders (The battle), the foggy landscape and strange female figures seen floating over marshland where there was once a lake (Enchanted lake), and finally the ceremony in the castle's Piazza d'Armi to celebrate victory over the invaders.

Prayer for Asia - LaBounty
"Prayer For Asia" is an original work for wind orchestra whose main theme was inspired by prayer. Simple and pure in its core, exponentially powerful harmonic and textural scoring make this work both music for the musician and soul food for a new generation of audiences here and abroad. The imagery of this musical entreaty tranquilly unfolds with a clarinet exposition that authentically captures the essence of an invocation that is adeptly passed to English Horn and masterfully developed via sectional highlighting, superlative percussion and a climax of elysian dimension. "Prayer For Asia" conveys reverence and paramount reflection that will, perhaps now more than ever, touch mature ensembles and audiences in a significant manner.

Opening Music - Ben Haemhouts
Opening music is one of the first works for wind orchestra by Ben Haemhouts and was originally written under assignment from the Fanfare St. Pieters Kapelle Belgium. The slow mysterious introduction introduces the main theme that consists of the notes F, C, B-flat, F, a combination that was woven throughout the entire work. Then a stirring allegro part follows, with a melodious passage in the euphoniums. The end is a long-drawn-out resuming of the beginning that builds up to a large climax, still built on the same basic tones. This overture is a solemn openings work for every occasion.

Minnen frn Holmen - Jerker Johansson
The first theme played by the solo clarinet was written by Jerker Johansson the summer 1997, when he was composing in Swedish folk music style for an intended radio programme in which his father should participate reading poems in local dialect. Unfortunately, the project was discontinued. In the spring 2015 Mr. Johansson however started to work on the theme again, this time adding a song theme of broader character. Holmen is the name of the homestead where Mr. Johansson's father Arne grew up. It is beautifully located in the parish of Skrv, situated east of Skara, one of the oldest towns in Sweden. At Holmen, the composer spent his childhood summers and his recollections are filledwith many bright moments and happy memories. The piece was premiered May 22, 2015 by the Gteborg Wind Orchestra conducted by the composer.
