Music for a Noble Gathering
Capturing the pomp and dignity of a regal celebration, this composition opens with a percussion flourish and band fanfare. A legato, lyrical section offers a contrast in tempo, key and style. Use this to work on phrase shaping, the development of long tones, balance of melody and countermelody, and key signature recognition. Perfect for graduations and ceremonies or as a fanfare-type concert opener or closer.

A More Perfect Union - Mike Forbes
A More Perfect Union is inspired by the strife of the Boston Tea Party before the American Revolution, as well as other struggles throughout the history of the United States. It is cast in three distinct parts, with the first portraying the early struggle of the colonies to unify, the second part reflecting the unification of our country after a tumultuous civil war and finally, demonstrating the spirit and fight of the current divide in today's political atmosphere. It is a welcome addition to the concert band repertoire with a strong musical message.

Heartbeat of a City (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
A city is founded, it has a heart that beats. But visible achievements such as buildings and infrastructure merely bear witness to what its true heart is made of, the people who have lived, and still live, in the city. The pulse of the city, brought to life by its heartbeat, changes over time. Who hasn't seen those time-lapse images showing twinkling lines of car lights as people make their way to work, while others stand at traffic lights, only moving as if at the push of a button? These are like life flowing in the veins, driven by a strong heart. Leonardo da Vinci had already imagined the rivers as the blood vessels of the Earth. In any city, though, it's not the rivers but the movement and activities of the people who live there. The heart doesn't always beat steadily, however, but its rhythm can be influenced by joy, fear, and many other things. Every city has its own pulse. This is also true of the university city of Marburg, where people from over 100 nations now live together in a cosmopolitan and tolerant community. This work describes the city from its founding in 1222, and the charity of Saint Elizabeth, all the way to the present day.Duration: 9.15

1805: A Town's Tale, Symphonic Suite from (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
In 2013 the short film 1805 A Town's Tale was released, produced by Refos Film, with music by Otto M. Schwarz. A fateful autumn day in the year 1805: the morning mists hang heavy over the sprawling field near Drnstein. The captain's tent and some smaller tents are seemingly lifeless in their deep slumber. In dawn's half-light, the fires now only steam and barely glow. A figure sneaks past the main tent. This is Phillipe, a soldier of Napoleon's troops, leaving the camp early to warn Mina, his lover, and the other inhabitants of the town of Krems of the planned raid. The Symphonic Suite is a compilation of various main themes from the soundtrack.Duration: 9.45

A Little Klezmer Suite (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
A Little Klezmer Suite was commissioned by Rushton Park High School to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their band programme. They gave the premiere in a virtual online concert in October 2020. Klezmer music originated in the shtetl (villages) and the ghettos of Eastern Europe, where itinerant Jewish troubadours, known as klezmorim, had performed at celebrations, particularly weddings, since the early Middle Ages. Klezmer is a Yiddish term combining the Hebrew words kley (instrument) and zemer (song). The roots of the style are found in secular melodies, popular dances, Jewish hazanut (cantorial music) and also the nigunim, the wordless melodies intoned by the Hasidim (orthodox Jews). The melodies used in the four movements of A Little Klezmer Suite have traditionally been used in Jewish wedding ceremonies and celebrations. Duration: 7.45
