A Bamberg Fantasy - Ben Haemhouts
Bamberg has a population of approximately 70.000 people, a city not far from Bayreuth, famous for its Bayreuth Festspiele. The River Regnitz , the historic buildings, and the famous orchestra Bamberg Symphoniker are the source of inspiration for A Bamberg Fantasy. Following the opening, with its beautiful melodies played by different sections, the mood suddenly changes into an allegro ritmico in the minor key with rythmical elements and dynamic harmonics. In the finale, changes in time signature add a flowing character to this composition.

A Jupiter Fantasy (from the Planets) - Yasuhide Ito
Utilizing the melody from the central section of Holst's "The Planets: IV. Jupiter", I have exclusively written a chorus piece for an event in 1999. Based on that particular piece, a duo for piano and flute was written the same year. Later, more than a total of 30 renditions were written based on the original piece.This version of "Jupiter", arranged for the large wind band, is one of three parts of a three-part composition, which includes "Mars" and "Earth", composed in 2003 and 2005 respectively.The trumpet ad lib kicks off the central section, in which various other instruments could repeatedly perform the section, and ad lib is most welcome too.(Yasuhide Ito)

A Little Irish Suite is an original work composed specifically for the Compact Band Series. This series offers smaller ensembles the opportunity to perform original, high-quality works. A Little Irish Suite consists of three movements, all based on Irish folk tunes. Clear structure and crisp harmonies complemented by plain, comprehensible melodies, are characteristic of this piece. It offers conductors the opportunity to work on tone, balance, phrasing as well as on technique with their ensemble. Cry Me A River is an American standard, written by Arthur Hamilton in 1953, and in the first instance made known by Julie London's performance. Cry Me A River was also the opening track on the CD 'Crazy Love' by Michael Bubl. He turned it into a swinging big band arrangement, with a James Bond type feel. This arrangement was originally written for Harmony Band with solo voice but is also available for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, baritone or trombone
