Finale (from Symphony No.2, Little Russian) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Tchaikovsky, Peter Ilyich - Curnow, James
Throughout the years, composers have found inspiration for their works in simple folk melodies. Tchaikovsky loved Russian folk music all his life. Whilst composing his 2nd symphony, he was inspired by farmers' songs that fascinated him during a stay in Kamenka (near Kiev). He composed this symphony in 1872/73 and used the melody from the song The Stork as the main theme for the Finale. James Curnow's transcription of this 19th century masterpiece allows you to bring your contest or concert performance to a fitting Finale.Duration: 10.15

Dulcinea (Symphony No. 3, 'Don Quixote,' Mvt. 2)
The second of four movements in Robert W. Smith's epic work, Dulcinea tells the tale of Don Quixote's adoration of the ideal woman. Written in a sultry 5/4 tango, the audience will hear the haunting melody and feel the passion of Cervantes' knight-errant as he proclaims his love for Dulcinea de Tobosa. Featuring an English horn solo that is liberally cross-cued throughout, the initial melody gives way to the most powerful of statements before returning to the tango in a quiet, yet startling ending.

Music for a Hero (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
There have always been heroes, big and small. This composition is dedicated to all those heroes who are committed to whatever it may be through a strong conviction; those who have ideals and who stand up for them; those who live their dreams; and finally those 'everyday heroes' who undertake their little deeds behind the scenes and receive no thanks for it. These heroes are everywhere, but they often shun the limelight. 05:30
