Using 900 Miles and The Wayfaring Stranger for compositional material, thematic elements from both are interwoven into the overall musical fabric. 900 Miles' lonely railroad worker is heard in woodwind train whistle effects and the homesickness of The Wayfaring Stranger, as heard in the movie "1917", is effectively portrayed by a moving treatment using long tones with a continuing rhythmic accompaniment. A strong concert, contest or festival choice, this work offers cross-curricular opportunities as well.

"Mitt hjerte er ditt" ("My Heart is Yours") is primarily known with this Norwegian lyrics and melody from Maj Britt Andersen's recording of the song, first released in 1992. Andersen's husband, Geir Holmsen, composed the new music for this recording, a version that has since been performed by numerous other artists, including Anna of the North on "Hver gang vi mtes" in 2022.The lyrics are Alf Prysen's Norwegian translation of Nils Ferlin's Swedish text, originally written to a Swedish folk tune.This is an arrangement written for a vocal soloist and wind orchestra, but it can also be played with instrumental soloists or purely instrumentally. The song has only two verses, so the middle section of this arrangement is an orchestral verse where the melody begins in the lower instruments.

Often there is both melody and obligato/countermelody in addition to harmonic elements. Let each of them have their own layer in the balance.Staccato effects in clarinets and marimba are intended as pizzicato effects and must be phrased. Based on the exhilarating bike ride on the Seymour Valley Demonstration Forest trail and a detour into the remote, beautiful Lost Lake, I associate this piece with some great memories. Glistening in a quiet peace, Lost Lake_x001A_also known as Rolf Lake_x001A_is calm and warm in the summer. Not many people know about it, so it is easy to find yourself alone, surrounded by beautiful nature, isolated from humanity. Back in high school, I would bike up to Lost Lake with one of my best friends Masanori Miyanabe, we'd have music playing off a bluetooth speaker as we biked against the cool air under the hot sun. Powering through uphill stretches with the reward of gliding downhill, when we would finally make it to the lake, we would put our bikes down by the bushes_x001A_no locks, no security_x001A_and we would make our way down the rough logs towards the tiny strip of land suitable for basking in the sun, snacking, and maybe even swimming. In order to beat the sunset, reluctantly, we would mount our bicycles once again and find our way back to the Seymour Valley trail, where we would enjoy the evening ride home. -D.I.D. Choi
