King Tut's Tomb (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Phillips, Todd

A programmatic work that delves into the discovery of King Tut's tomb; this adventure begins with the lighting of candles then the careful descent through the debris to the doorway beyond which lay the treasures of the tomb, buried and forgotten for over 3000 years. As an opening is made in the door the hot air rushes forth and there it is; the glint of gold and the realization that wonderful things were waiting to be revealed! An ideal cross-curricular connection to the study of Egypt or a fun realization that the students playing this piece may be older than the 9 year old boy who became king .

La Rodana Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

The Spanish "Pasacalle" is a very characteristic genre of Spanish musical tradition. It resembles the march but is more majestic and represents the air of pretentiousness that is so typical for the Spanish male character of the sixties. This composition is not only an example of this kind of musical genre, but it also reminds us of the most typical Spanish celebration of all - the bullfight. Take your audience away to a balmy summer night in the bullring with this great new paso doble. 04:10

Mountain Majesty (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

For someone like Franco Cesarini, who was born and raised in a land where every horizon is dominated by the majestic Alps, mountains are in one's heart and soul every moment of life. The true spirit of mountains is described in the words of Alan Hovhaness: "Mountains are symbolic meeting places between the material and the spiritual world." It is a sentiment with which the composer fully agrees, which also helps explain the titles of succeeding episodes of the composition. These episodes alternate moments of reality, of matter, and with those of the ethereal, the spirit. Mountain Majestic is the fascinating final movement from the epic work Poema Alpestre, published separately in this edition for concert band. Breath a breath of fresh mountain air into your concert with this emotive work. 06:00

MUSIC FOR AROSA (Prestige Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip

This work was commissioned in 1996 by the Arosa Cultural committee and first performed in Arosa in that year. The majestic introduction opens with trombones and euphonium, heralding a legato theme, chorale-like in character. A pair of flutes introduce a new theme. A trumpet introduces a series of highly syncopated solos, which feature many metre changes, and the tempo increases when playful motifs are exchanged between various sections of the band. A solo clarinet introduces an expressive tune. A brass chorale follows, with interruptions from the flute and bassoon, until the clarinet tune is played by the whole band. This reaches a climax and the mood subsides to reach a quiet horn chord. The broad legato tune returns and the excitement increases until the march theme triumphantly returns to full band. This leads to the coda which is based on the opening fanfare and closes the work emphatically. (Grade 5) Performance time 11'01" (Recorded on QPRM138D BREAKING THE CENTURY, Central Band of the Royal Air Force)
