The Louvre, Scenes from (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Dello Joio, Norman - Longfield, Robert
Composer Norman Dello Joio (1913-2008) received an Emmy award for his 1965 score for the television program The Louvre. His concert band adaptation resulted in a five movement suite combining original material with themes by Renaissance composers such as Susato, Lully, and Cesti. In this arrangement for younger players, Robert Longfield skilfully truncates each movement and lessens the technical demands while carefully maintaining the essence of this masterful wind band repertoire classic.Duration: 6:00

I Colori della Gioia (Vocal (Soprano) Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan
This work for soprano and concert band was originally written for a special occasion: the wedding of one of the composer's children. It therefore matches another piece written for a similar occasion, I Shall Love But Thee. The lyrics are from the book Respiro Neve by the internationally renowned art photographer Luca Artioli, who possesses poetic talent as well. The first movement is stately and serene as where the contrasting allegro is much more dynamic and cheerful, requiring the solid high register of the singer. The conclusion is festive and radiant, partly thanks to the contribution of a piccolo trumpet! This work is a wonderful addition to the band repertoire wanting to perform with an excellent vocal soloist!Duration: 6.45

Continuum (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Buckley, Robert
This exciting, innovative new work from Robert Buckley was commissioned by the Troy University Symphony Band in honour of the 37th annual Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic in Alabama. Using a recurring two-measure loop, this uniquely constructed piece is built up around various musical building blocks that are constantly evolving and transforming. The music is dramatic and dynamic, with full-blown ensemble passages suddenly dropping to quiet, powerful moments without ever losing the music's continuous drive. Following an exotic, bluesy middle section the piece builds, accelerating to a thrilling, rhythmic, percussive finish. A real tour de force!Duration: 7:00

Sir Roger de Coverley (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bridge, Frank - Wheeler, Alastair
Frank Bridge (1879 - 1941) was one of the leading English composers of his time. In October 1922 he adapted his popular string quartet Sir Roger de Coverley for full symphony orchestra and Sir Henry Wood agreed, at the last minute, to include it in the last night of the Queen's Hall Promenade Concerts at the end of that month. This elaborate and colourful orchestral version has never been widely performed, but has now been brilliantly transcribed by Alastair Wheeler to provide a miniature dance poem for grade 5 level concert band. Bridge's lively treatment of one of England's most famous traditional dance melodies will make a fitting end to any concert, with the strains of Auld Lang Syne introduced by Bridge as a nod towards Sir Roger de Coverley's traditional function as the final dance of a Christmas Ball, as it was in Old Mr. Fezziwig's party in Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Energico is the third movement from the composition Out of Earth, a musical exploration of the creation of the myth Ovid's Metamorphoses. Out of Earth was created as a commission for the Aulos Concert Band and was premiered by the band in October 2015. It is a very challenging piece of music, which is perfect for contests or high-end concerts.Duration: 12.15

Song of Friendship (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
Song of Friendship was commissioned by the Concert Band of Jumonji University, Saitama, Japan and their conductor, Yutaka Nishida. The commission marked the 50th year of Yutaka Nishida's involvement with bands as a player, conductor and radio presenter. The ceremonial Song of Friendship opens with an extended fanfare, largely featuring the brass section. This leads to the main theme, which develops slowly until it is played by the full band. A change of key signals a contrasting central section containing a quiet woodwind chorale, which grows until the return of the triumphant sounding main theme. Elements of the opening fanfare then close the work. Duration: 6.45

Rejoice and Sing! (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
Rejoice and sing! was written in celebration of the 95th birthday of Sir David Willcocks. John Rutter writes: I was delighted to be asked by OUP to compose a new carol in his honour. Writing 'Rejoice and sing!' I recalled the many happy Christmas concerts he conducted with the Bach Choir in London's Royal Albert Hall, thinking also of his fondness for quirky rhythms, hence the lopsided 7/8 which runs through much of the music. This arrangement is written for combined Concert Band and Chorus, but may be performed by band alone. It is compatible with the original version except that it is transposed down by one-half step (semi-tone).
