This Latin mass for choir and wind band was composed in honour of Saint Cecilia's feast day, Saint Cecilia being the patroness of musicians. For this reason, many ensembles have annual concerts dedicated to Saint Cecila, which was the inspiration forthis piece. Downtown Divertimento - Johan de Meij
The inspiration for Downtown Divertimento comes from Johan de Meijs daily wanderings in Chelsea, in lower Manhattan. The day begins with a leisurely walk to Madison Square Park with his dog Alice. They visit the dog run where she meets up withother city canines. On the way back they have a moment of reflection looking at the nearby Flatiron Building, the striking triangular city landmark. Johan goes for a run later in the day. His jogging shoes naturally head for The Highline, anabandoned railway viaduct that was transformed into a lushly landscaped National Park. T-Bone Concerto, Part I - Rare - Johan de Meij
The T-Bone Concerto was Johan de Meij's first composition for solo instrument and symphonic band. It consists of three movements called respectively 'Rare', 'Medium' and 'Well Done'. In addition to the solo trombone, an important role has been allotted to a kind of chamber music ensemble within the band. This group introduces new thematic material and accompanies the soloist, thus creating a delightful transparant accompaniment. The ensemble consists of a double wind quintet (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 french horns and 2 bassoons) plus a cor anglais and a double bass. Part I is written in the A-B-A form and allow the soloist to display both the technical and the lyricalcharacteristics of the instrument.

Haexdonck - Guido De Ranter
This work was commissioned by the municipality of Kapelle-op-den-Bos on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of canon Jaak Muyldermans. Haexdonck is the old spelling of the present day region of "Oxdonk" where Jaak Muyldermans lived. In this three-part work the composer describes the different human aspects of canon Muyldermans' rich life. The first part, slow and dreamy, describes the writer/poet. The second dissonant part with much percussion describes his time as an army chaplain during the Great War. The third hymn-like part depicts his time as a priest. This work by Guido De Ranter, a newcomer to composition,is suitable for competitions or concerts.

Hanseatic Suite - Jacob de Haan
Dreaming of love. This is the theme of the folksong on which the composition was based. Its characteristic melody inspired Jacob de Haan to this instrumental romance with a transparent structure consisting of an introduction, the folk-melody, a development of the theme, the folk-melody accompanied by ornamental triplets followed by the final bars.
