This piece was commissioned by Japan Ground Self Defense Force Western Army Band. In the programme note for the premire the composer wrote: "I am always impressed by the expansive earth and sparkling ocean scenery when I come to Kyushu. I have met many local people here and they are all expressive and energetic. I wrote this dramatic piece to convey to the whole of Japan the memory of my experience here, swaying in the west wind. I wrote this, hoping that the Self Defense Force will forge closer ties with the community through this piece." Eastern drama felt in the west wind!

Developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the Hayabusa asteroid probe returned to earth on June 13, 2010, completing its mission as the first ever spacecraft to obtain surface samples from an asteroid. Thisfanfare was commissioned by the band of NEC Tamagawa, conducted by Ikuo Inagaki, to commemorate the success of the Hayabusa mission. Pandora appears in Greek mythology the first woman, created by the gods and sent to earth as an evil addition to the human race. 'Pan' means 'all' and 'dora' means 'gifted'. Pandora's Box must by no means be opened. The various stories surrounding this box inspired Yagisawa to write this dramatic piece, an addition to his series of pieces based on Greek mythology, such as Perseus.

December Sky - Erik Morales
'On a crisp, cold night in December, she gazes upward and stands in awe of the heavens. She realizes that the earth is only a tiny part of something greater.' This scenario provides the backdrop for this composition, which wasinspired by the night sky as viewed by my six-year-old from our home in Louisiana. It begins with the theme in the clarinets. The rest of the ensemle gradually reveals itself, as if one discovers a star not previously noticed inthe sky. The music reaches its climax at measure 34, where we are humbled by the sheer multitude of stars in the sky and realize our place in the universe. The piece ends with twinkling stars portrayed in the flute, oboe,clarinet,and bells.
