Ouverture Allemande (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

This festive overture by the Austrian composer Thomas Doss, whose father was German, is intended to be a symbol of the friendship between Germany and Austria, and the countries that border on these two states. In times of union and cooperation, the European thinking should be one of tolerance and openness when it comes to national identities and cultures. European culture has many faces - that is what makes it unique. The shadows of the past, however, should never be forgotten, but they must not obscure the present and the future. Many ghosts wander through this overture, and those who listen carefully will also hear a great master of classical music ghost around. A creative new opening work for any concert. 09:00

The Battle of Varlar Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

The work calls to mind an important event from the history of the city Coesfeld in Germany: the battle of Varlar, which took place in the year 1454. The composition presents us with a bird's eye view of the events: First of all, the consecration of the chapel on the Klinkenberg mountain is set to music in a hymn, after which the trumpets and trombones announce the imminent battle. In the subsequent fray not only the sounds of sabres and rapiers can clearly be heard but also the wailing of the wounded. When the Duke of Brunswick is wounded and captured by the troops of Walraf, Konrad von Diepen and his men march on Coesfeld in victory. Set against a festive melody, the hymn resounds in full glory. 07:00

The White Tower (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

The year is 1798 and thieves, robbers, and bandits prowl the countryside, wreaking havoc wherever they go and more often than not escaping without so much as a scratch. Trumpets and Bridges (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

Trumpets and Bridges was composed to celebrate the opening ofa new bridge linking Austria with Germany. This bridge is a symbolfor the meeting of cultures and the lifting of borders. In the thirdmillennium, geographical and political borders are losing theirmeaning and often they cause senseless suffering. Music is the bestevidence against the necessity of borders. Music is more global andinternational than any other language, because it is understood inthe heart, where no boundaries exist. 03:20
