This composition musically reveals the secrets of the former Duchy of Savoy. The slow, almost magical beginning describes the beautiful mountain location of the merged villages of La Motte-Servolex. After the romantic, almost religious middle section, the fast motif returns and the composition ends with a blissful final theme.

These days, many concert bands celebrate their centenary - this provided a good reason to compose the Centennial Celebration. This work has a festive, harmonious and optimistic vibe. A joyful introduction is followed by a lyrical passage with an enticing melody, after which the same theme can be heard in a pop style variation. Next is a kind of trio with a melody that will linger in your mind. Lively sounds bring us back to the lyrical main theme once more, but this time exuberant, like a pop ballad. Finally, we hear the festive sounds of the introduction again, now as a lustrous conclusion.

This work was commissioned by the concert band Da Capo Leeuwarden from the Netherlands, which was linked with the Dutch postal service PTT up until 1995. Mercury happens to be the messenger of the gods - a kind of mailman, one could say. Yet the composer did not choose the god but the planet Mercury as his source of inspiration for this work in four uninterrupted movements. He created a multifaceted work in which the mysterious celestial body is represented, as well as a number of space missions exploring it. This interesting subject matter guarantees a composition that fascinates from start to finish.

In the 20th century, klezmer melodies in Europe were influenced by other music styles; in America, jazz had a notable influence on this compelling music.

Cittaslow is an international network of more than 220 towns in 30 countries. Its members are towns where people are still finding themselves reminiscing over the old times; towns that are rich in theatres, squares, cafs, restaurants and spiritual places; towns with untouched landscapes and charming craftsman where people are still able to recognize the slow course of the seasons, and respect their authentic products, true taste as well as their health. The Hymn of Cittaslow, which was commissioned by the organisation itself, is entirely inspired by their commitment to the preservation of the member towns. The tempo is naturally 'slow', and the themes somehow soundfamiliar. On the one hand, the music emanates peace and quiet, but it also sounds grand in its lyricism, thereby reflecting the beauty of the Cittaslow towns.
