The name 'JAD-A-DAJ' comes from a combination of several compositional resources, hence the subtitle 'eclectic dialogues for band'. The music responds to a pure work of analysis and more specifically to the search to exploit contrasts in the wide range of sounds provided by the wind instruments and percussion. After stopovers in the Neapolitan scale Mayor and trying to obtain quarters for chords using all notes of that scale, I got a chord in which the interval appears completely symmetrical: it is what some composers have called 'closed cycle of fourths'.JAD-A-DAJ received a 2 Premio at the Italian Concorso Internazionale di Composizione originale per banda 2009.

Using three varying images from pursuits on the water, 'The Big Splash' has moments of excitement, soft melodies and crunching harmonies. Each section is given an opportunity to shine in this 3-part original work. Movement I entitled 'Launching' sets the scene of a speedboat accelerating into the water. 'Drifting' (mov. II) portrays images of the sunset over the water's edge and in the minor key there is a sense of thoughtfulness as well as tranquillity. The last movement has a grander feel to it. Titled 'Cruising' there are moments you can imagine a larger carrier chip setting sail as well as a sense of anticipation and excitement from those climbing aboard. Eternal Promise is a wedding march written in 2013. Naoya Wada wrote this march to commemorate the wedding of his friend Yuka and her bridegroom Junya, which took place on 22 November 2013 with their son. She was Wada's college classmate and made a special study of trumpet. The premiere was performed by classmates. The composer send them both his best wishes for their lives together: Junya and Yuka, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart!

Karl Komzak Jr. (1850-1905), son of Karl I and father of Karl III was the most famous member of an illustrious family of Austrian military bandmasters. Karel II composed over 300 works among which 65 marches, 81 polkas and 21 waltzes. His waltz 'Badner Madln' is world-famous. Some of his marches, such as '84er Regiments Marsch' and 'Vindobona' are still famous, but the most popular is 'Erzherzog Albrecht' march. It was composed for the 70th birthday of the Austrian Field Marshall Archduke Albert in 1887. It became the parade march of the 9th Dragoon Regiment and the 5th Artillery Regiment in Austria.

Ever Forward, Ever Onward is a wonderful piece written in concert B-flat and only uses notes within the scale. The clarinets do not go over the break. If students have been playing for at least a semester, this piece will be just challenging enough to make them want to work, but not so hard that they give up. The lines are interesting, too, no matter what instrument you can play. Students will love to play this and I hope you have fun. 1st trumpet's highest note is A.

£435.40Continental Divide - Stig Nordhagen
The title is "Continental Divide" and it has nothing to do with tectonic plates, but is another word for "Watershed". It is the place where the the water flows in opposite directions. For example, when you drive up a mountain, the water flows downwards, the same does it when you drive down the other side. On top there is usually a water, and it is in this water, or musical idea if you like, that it is a continental divide. What I intend is that in this piece there are some musical motifs that change character and direction. They can be in the foreground and carry the play, or they may be in the background as a countermeasure. It can also be from horizontal lines to vertical. Orrhythmical patterns that dont find their match until far into the piece.
