En 1724, Jean-Sbastien Bach composait une cantate, fonde sur le choral du mme nom de Martin Luther. Pour raliser cet arrangement pour Orchestre d'Harmonie, Jacob de Haan s'est particulirement inspir de l'oeuvre de Bach. Aus tiefer Not est une prcieuse contribution au rpertoire sacr.

After the romantic, almost religious middle section, the fast motif returns and the composition ends with a blissful final theme.
