This composition was written on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the De Pinte wind band. This is also the derivation of Latin title Aureus (golden - from the word aurum, or gold). This work is comprised of three main sections. The first and last sections are predominantly a musical setting of the concepts of celebration and joy in keeping with the theme of jubilee. The music is therefore above all dynamic, energetic and extrovert. The middle section has a more introspective, melodic character, contemplating the subtle beauty of life. This work was commissioned by Marktmusik Timelkam to celebrate its 170th anniversary. It describes the cultural life and hustle and bustle of the band's home base, the Austrian town of Timelkam. Carnival pictures a festive procession starting at the marketplace and lasting well into the night. The work features many 'carnivalesque' elements and is a joy for players to perform. There is a lot of merry activity going on in the music; people cheerily chatting in the inn; singing and dancing together and having fun. There is also room for a melancholy mood, accompanied by reminiscences about eternal goodbyes and searching for love. With the added musical representation of children's playing and pranks, a beautiful sunrise as well as a depiction of the churches and societies in town, this composition is not just an account of a carnival parade but a small portrayal of life.

The music of Sailing is characterized by an atmosphere that is vibrant and full of energy. The piece depicts a ship's journey on the ocean, the colors of which can readily change from a rich, welcoming blue to a dark, menacing gray. Sometimes the ship is sprayed by the waves: sometimes the ship floats blithely along a sea of tranquility. Articulations play a prominent role in this piece, with a combination of staccatos and slurs expressing sensations of happiness and joy in the ocean journey.
