The New Corn Palace - Karl L. King
The New Corn Palace is a famous attraction in Mitchell, SD. Originally built to house the annual community harvest festival, the new ornate building opened in 1921 and became a premier venue for area symphonies and concert bands. Fort Dodge (IA) Band rang in the inaugural celebration, under the direction of Karl King, who composed this work for the occasion. In keeping with King's circus march tradition, a bold D minor introduction and first strain leads to a contrasting F major second strain, lyrical trio, and minor key break strain. This new edition condenses the five original trumpet parts into three parts, and re-scores the saxophones to meet modern standards, with additional percussion editing.

King Karl King - Henry Fillmore
Originally written for a film (The Big Brass Band) that was never made, this terrific but little-known march turned out to be the last march that Fillmore would write. Unusually rich in harmony, it was not published in Fillmore's lifetime. He had asked that it be named after his friend and fellow march composer, Karl L. King, if the movie was not produced.

Cimarron
Fanfare like gestures and a bold rhythmic push characterize this piece. Clark has kept the range between the first 6 notes that players learn and has used simple eighth note patterns that are well within the grasp of first year groups. The piece is much l less involved and less difficult than it sounds. Perfect for the beginning band!

Symphony No. 9 "New World", Finale - Antonín Dvorák / arr. L. C. Harnsberger
This surprisingly accurate, yet playable Dvork transcription will enhance any program. Great pains were taken to keep this transcription pure, and the result is a wonderfully written version of one of the orchestral repertoire's most popularly performed pieces. To further enhance the performance experience, the key has been changed from E minor to the more band-friendly key of F minor. Essential parts are cued, making this adaptation usable by bands with limited instrumentation. Give your audience the "new world" on your next concert!
