Gloria (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
In 1976, the Italian singer Umberto Tozzi released his debut album and then, one year later, released the single Ti Amo to great critical acclaim. In 1979 Tozzi released his Gloria which was a great success on the continent before, in 1982 hitting a global market following an English version by the phenomenal young American vocalist, Laura Brannigan. A magnificent programmatic work for symphonic band that is an offering to Pele, the Goddess of Hawaii's volcanoes. The work opens with primordial, mysterious sounds representing the foreboding volcanoes of Hawaii. We are then introduced to Pele as a tall, beautiful young woman. This is one of the forms she can take and it represents her powers of creation and beauty. This gives way to the active and destructive Pele, often taking the form of an old woman, wrinkled and bent with age. The following lyrical section of the piece is the full statement of Pele's theme of creation and beauty. As this theme settles, we begin to hear the ground pop and crack letting us know that new lava is beginning to bubble and flow. Suddenly and violently, one of her volcanoes erupts, creating massive chaos and destruction. After the eruption subsides, Pele's theme of creation and beauty returns again. A wonderful addition to any concert or festival performance by mature bands. Exceptional in every respect!

La Traviata Highlights Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
La Traviata is one of the most well-known operas by Giuseppe Verdi.The story of the opera depicts the conflict between free love and bourgeois morality. The young poet Alfredo and the Parisian courtesan Violetta fall in love with each other. They are happy together for a while, but Violetta gives up Alfredo, at the request of his father, to save the honor of his family. Only when it's too late are the two reunited, with Violetta suffering from tuberculosis and dying in the arms of her lover. La Traviata Highlights consists of three movements, which can be performed as one large work, but can also be played separately. It makes use of many beautiful dance melodies and delightful moving arias from this captivating opera.

The emphasis is on atmosphere and drama, be they respectful or joyful! It is acknowledged that Ottorino Respighi has influenced this work though his own eternal Rome tributes are not challenged here, rather saluted and celebrated.The three movements are: 1. Collosea di Romaan evergrowing march mood, builds in intensity and density as we approach the mighty Colosseum, the amphitehatre of Classical Rome, where deadly spectacles were once played out. We should not forget that countless thousands died here whilst even more laughed in the name of entertainment: their memory is reflected in the coda. In its unique way this icon of Rome is one of the most tragic historical places.2. Capella Sistinathe Sistine Chapel of the Vatican City is observed in a series of chorales and interludes. The visitor can look 360o around and be presented with a series of Biblical representations and commentaries. The music attempts to reflect these contrasting panels whilst ultimately bowing to the glory of this magnificent artistic creation. The coda is enigmatic, inconclusive - a single viewing cannot reveal all the mysteries and beauties within. 3. Fonatani di Trevitime for laughter and fun! The Trevi Fountain is one of Rome's finest and visually overboard locations! This is indicated as a Burletta: 'a la dolce vita' which means 'the sweet life'. This burletta (meaning 'little joke') makes use of tarantella and saltarello rhythms and features a pair of tambourines which are associated with these forms.
