Symphony No.3 (Urban Landscapes) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Cesarini, Franco

Fascinated by the beauty of Chicago, Franco Cesarini has translated his emotions into music: this is how Symphony No. 3 "Urban Landscapes" Op. 55, was born, a musical portrait of this metropolis overlooking Lake Michigan. The composition is divided into three movements: The Wrigley Building from Dawn to Noon, Blue Silhouette and Cloud Gates, which by sharing the same thematic material arranged in cyclical form, strengthen the overall cohesion of the piece. The first movement, preceded by a short slow introduction in which the main theme is presented in an almost dreamlike form, metaphorically represents the city at dawn. The sudden change of time symbolizes the start of activities with all its noises and sounds: you can hear the bell that announces the closing of the subway doors, the sound of cars speeding by, the siren of a patrol car. If the first movement represents the day, the second introduces a nocturnal environment: a melancholic melody played by the English horn anticipates a more animated tempo depicting melodies coming from jazz clubs. Powerful fanfares that take up the second theme of the first movement introduce the third movement. In this finale, the role of the two themes is reversed compared to the first movement and one takes the place of the other in a kind of games of mirrors. Symphony No. 3 "Urban Landscapes" Op. 55: a sumptuous musical portrait of the "Windy City". Duration: 27.00

Retrograde (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Gassi, Vince

Add one part catchy rhythm, two parts tuneful theme, a pinch of cilantro mixed with slow-simmered sweet onions and... oh sorry, wrong recipe. Monsters, Unite! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Dugger, Kelly

Monsters, Unite! by Kelly Dugger is a fun beginning band piece that is sure to be a hit, not only at Halloween time but all year round. Monsters all around the world are waking up to a calling to unite. Some are big, hairy creatures, and others are delicate and fairy-like. They walk and fly long distances to find each other. In the end, they all come together, marching as one. Just when you think they've marched off into the distance, they come together to surprise the audience. Unique percussion effects, timpani glissando and theremin (or flexatone) add to the spooky sound. A tuba solo at the end is followed by a surprising scream that will leave the performers and the audience giggling! Duration: 1.30

Serenade (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Bourgeois, Derek - Brand, Michael

Derek Bourgeois wrote this Serenad for his own wedding, to be played by the organist as the guests left the church ceremony. Not wishing his wife and guests to process out in an orderly 2/4, he surprised everyone by starting the piece in 11/8 and in case anyone began to feel too comfortable, he chaged to 13/8 in the middle! The work has now been released in a number of different orchestration and this one for 6 Part Flexible Ensemble will hopefully enable a greater number of ensembles and audiences to enjoy this delightful and popular miniature. Eldorado (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Deleruyelle, Thierry

The myth of El Dorado ("the golden one") stems from the story of a powerful chief who used to cover himself with gold dust before bathing in a sacred lake where he threw precious objects as offerings to the gods. The myth was soon relayed to the Spanish conquistadors and inspired many expeditions, although the invaders didn't bring back nearly as much gold as they expected, if any at all. Eldorado is a mysterious and dynamic work that illustrates the myth of the golden man and the European expeditions that followed. With a touch of exotic influences, the music is varied and rich. This piece was commissioned by the French Cultural Association Lille 3000 as part of their Eldorado-themed festival in 2019. Duration: 10.30

Irish Tune from County Derry (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Grainger, Percy Aldridge - Romeyn, Rob

Percy Grainger's "Irish Tune from County Derry" is unquestionably one of the most beloved standards of the concert band repertoire. Rob Romeyn's brilliant arrangement for the Command series of this iconic work has been skillfully and carefully adapted to better fit the instrumentation of a smaller ensemble, thus allowing the piece to be performed effectively by many more bands who would otherwise not have the opportunity. All of Grainger's iconic melodic and harmonic lines and harmonic structure are present and left intact. We predict this wonderful arrangement will become a classic and will be a valuable addition to the repertoire for many years to come. Great music for younger performers! Duration: 4.15
