The Seven Summits are the highest mountains of each of the seven continents. Using the concept of the summits, this piece explores the rush of adrenaline, the pounding of the heart, and the sheer joy of being one with nature. The middle slower section represents the pitfalls and difficulties of climbing the mountains, demonstrated by the several accidentals and mature chordal progressions. Finally, the end brings the climber's triumphant return to base camp! 1st trumpet's highest note is G.

Composed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Karel Husa's iconic Music for Prague 1968, LABYRINTH is an expansive, expressive four-movement work of symphonic weight and scope. Polyphonic webs of searching melody coalesce into enveloping tapestries of sound as the piece unfolds. Pann describes the epic final movement as "a gargantuan crescendo like the last movement of Respighi's The Pines of Rome or Ravel's Bolero [that] should leave the audience and players sonically drenched by the end." LABYRINTH is an enthralling experience for ensembles and listeners alike, and one that will linger with them long after the last chord fades from the concert hall.

£168.50Psalm for Band - Vincent Persichetti
Psalm for Band is a piece constructed from a single germinating harmonic idea. There are three distinct sections - a sustained chordal mood, a forward moving chorale, followed by a Paean culmination of the materials. Extensive use is made of separate choirs of instruments supported by thematic rhythms in the tenor and bass drums. Psalm was selected for performance at the CBDNA Convention in December 1952 as one of the eight most outstanding compositions for band written in the previous several years. Theodore Presser Company editor Daniel Dorff, on the new Centennial Edition, explains, "The 1954 Elkan-Vogel publication had a full score in a calligrapher's hand that was quiteaccurate, and a set of parts that was problematic in readability and accuracy. The present 2015 edition is faithful to and compatible with the original published score, with carefully and cleanly prepared parts bearing cues, easy page turns, and individual parts for each player."

In the fall of 2021, as occurs countless times across the United States, band director Darin Johns was traveling with his marching band to a Friday night football game. Tragically, a wrong-way driver struck the Andrews Band bus, taking the lives of both Darin and the bus driver. Over the next few months, tributes to Darin came in waves, culminating in a 1,000-member parade with 30 different bands at Christmastime. The Association of Texas Small-School Bands, of which Darin and the Andrews Band were a part, commissioned me to write a piece in honor of Mr. Johns. The music reflects the waves of memory that one experiences when contemplating the deepest of thoughts. First nebulous, sometimes sharply focused, resonating motifs, highs and lows. The four-chord chaconne figure is the unifying core of the work. It grounds the various melodies as they enter and return, sometimes densely paired, sometimes transparently isolated. The themes are structured as an arch form ABCBA, but as they recur, they are added together, giving them more density, as if the memories overlap, before the calmness, first heard as an ethereal haze, recurs.

In the somewhat sarcastic Scherzpolka (Joke Polka), the composer does not intend to make fun of Alpine traditions and music but rather of the typical social attitude that does not always do justice to the valuable folk music and culture. Imagine a band that has to play in a beer tent for hours. During the performance the guests treat the musicians to one beer after another. Gradually, the players and the conductor lose control over their instruments and their interpretation of the music. Finally, the performance comes to an end: the Scherzpolka is actually the last piece. There are no limits to the creativity in both the visual and musical aspects during a performance of theScherzpolka!

At the end of the 1960s the group Creedence Clearwater Revival wrote many successful numbers, many of which were covered by various artists. Proud Mary - one of their best known songs was covered many times and this arrangement by Thijs Oud is based on Tina Turner's performance. For the musicians this is a fantastic piece to play. This area was once besieged by the Celts, who spread fear and terror among the inhabitants, however the people opposed the enemy with patience and courage. The region is still one of the most beautiful landscapes in Austria, and the people who live there are proof that tradition andprogress are not necessarily contradictory. The pop song Good Vibrations, which appeared as a single in 1966, is one of the most celebrated hits of The Beach Boys. The piece, composed and produced by Brian Wilson, has been called a mini symphony. Various covers versions have been made, including a marvellous a cappella version by the King's Singers. This arrangement by Don Campbell is just as delightful as the original.
