£267.99Between the Two Rivers - Philip Sparke
Between the Two Rivers was commissioned by Fanfare 'Prins Hendrik', from Aalst in the Netherlands. The title derives from the fact that the town of Aalst lies between two tributaries of the River Dommel. The community is a highly religious one, so the famous Luther chorale, Ein' Feste Burg, was an obvious choice for Philip Sparke to use as the theme for this new work. It takes the form of a theme with four contrasting variations. Variation 1 is a moto perpetuo, variation 2 has a slower march like feel, variation 3 is a sinister slow movement and the final variation is in the form of a lyrical fugue. Between The Two Rivers is sure to become a major work in modern concert bandrepertoire.

Mark Twain's colorful characters come to musical life in "A Tom Sawyer Portrait!" 'Biberussa', the old name of the small town of Beverst in Belgium, is a combination of the words 'biber' and 'ussa', meaning beaver and river. This concert march was composed for the 100th anniversary of the Koninklijke Harmonie (Royal Concert Band) 'Ons Verlangen' from Beverst, a place where the composer had his first musical training. After the opening passage, a proud, heroic theme is heard. As a contrast, it is followed by a simple chorale melody and both themes then appear simultaneously in a grand tutti passage. This is followed by a cantabile trio with a majestic reprise of the main theme bringing the work to a close.

A Bamberg Fantasy - Ben Haemhouts
Bamberg has a population of approximately 70.000 people, a city not far from Bayreuth, famous for its Bayreuth Festspiele. The River Regnitz , the historic buildings, and the famous orchestra Bamberg Symphoniker are the source of inspiration for A Bamberg Fantasy. Following the opening, with its beautiful melodies played by different sections, the mood suddenly changes into an allegro ritmico in the minor key with rythmical elements and dynamic harmonics. In the finale, changes in time signature add a flowing character to this composition.

Fantasy Tales - Piet Swerts
This work, reminiscent of a film score, describes the history of the Dutch town Horn. A broad lyrical theme, played by the horns, depicts the history of this town on the river Meuse. A cheerful Allegro represents rural life around the town and its castle. Following this the horn theme returns and the music changes dramatically. A drum roll symbolises the times of war that the town and castle have known. The threatening music eventually develops once more into the hopeful horn theme, a sign of reconstruction and the future.
