Ignition (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Stalter, Todd

Ignition is a blindingly fast, raucously energetic concert opener that derives its title from the consecutive rising three-note cells that are the building blocks for almost the entire work. However, the energy unleashed in the music and the imagery of the title serve both as a metaphor for the spark of creativity, and as a celebration in sound for those who find and follow their own true life's passion and pass it along to others, igniting the flame for another generation.Duration: 2.40

Rhapsodic Celebration (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sheldon, Robert

This multi-faceted work includes three brief connected and musical tableau's that each present their own distinct mood and style. The opening Intrada explores 6/8 time using an uplifting fanfare and rhythmical motifs. The slower Serenade provides contrast that begins with an alto saxophone solo, then utilises the full ensemble to create warm, rich timbres in this gentle and lyrical movement. Mirage (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob

A mirage is an illusion, something without substance that does not really exist. Although not real, its unattainable nature is perfect for musical inspiration. Composer Jacob de Haan was strolling through a picturesque forest of the Dutch Gelderland when he thought he saw a body of water. While there was no water, its mere image created waves that can be relived in De Haan's original composition, Mirage.Duration: 3.00

March for A History of the English-Speaking Peoples (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Walton, William - Noble, Paul

In 1959, William Walton was commissioned to compose music for the opening and closing credits of a television series based on Winston Churchill's History of the English-speaking Peoples. The resulting work, March for the History of the English-Speaking Peoples, was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra in May of that year and later published by Oxford University Press. However, the television project never materialised, and consequently Walton's score, which might have become one of his more familiar among popular audiences through television exposure, was all but forgotten. With the moderate surge in popularity that Walton's music enjoyed in the last decade of the twentieth century, this and other little-known pieces have become available for consideration. Concert Bands will enjoy the majesty and drama of this piece, very appropriate for concerts, ceremonies, and graduations.
