The horn is often associated with hunting. Hunters in earlier times used horns to signal their hounds during the hunt. In this piece the roles have been switched, and the horn is the one being hunted. The soloist has to escape the hunting low brass and gunshots of the band. The piece was originally composed for horn player Mats Pettersen and The Bergen Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in 2013, and was transcribed for horn player Bartosz Wawruch and Bergen Symphonic Band to be performed at the Brass Wind Festival in Bergen in 2017.

This composition was commissioned by the Musique Municipale d'Ingwiller, for the occasion of their 150th anniversary. The source of inspiration for this work was the municipality of Ingwiller in the French region, Alsace. The title of the work refers to the many buildings there that are made of red sandstone, and to the 'Schlembe', a train connecting Ingwiller with Bouxwiller for sixty years. It consists of 4 movements, all related to the city of Ingwiller and its history. This bright and positive work offers beautiful melodic themes, slow passages perfect for working on intonation and phrasing, as well as pleasant parts for Percussion.

The Last Friend of Napoleon is based on a true piece of Dutch history. In October 1813, when Napoleon was beaten after his unsuccessful Russian campaign, the French withdrew from the Netherlands. At the beginning of 1814, the whole country had been liberated except for the town of Delfzijl, still occupied by French troops. This programmatic work is about political and military stubbornness, chasing dreams, and about love always following its own unequalled way. Being one of the most acknowledged composers of today, Dirk Bross has created an epic work that depicts a dramatic story, using the full range of the symphonic band resulting in challenging brass passages, a widerange of percussion and a lot of strong, beautiful and melodic material.

The White Thrill is a composition written on behalf of the "Musikkapelle Sankt Anton am Arlberg", in Austria. The theme refers to the ski race "Der weisse Rausch", that takes place every year in Sankt Anton. The composition is in an overtureform, with a majestic introduction, a fast part, a slow part and a reprise of the fast part. One theme characterizes the entire composition, with its pleasantly syncopated and fascinating rhythms; symbolizing in music the sinuous gait of the trackand the rapid maneuvers of the skiers. In the introduction, the majestic aspect, symbolizes the charm of the summits covered with snow, the grandeur of the alpine landscape. In the slow part, one can imagine the quiet of winter nights lit by the moonand the stars. A beautiful and ingenious piece.

The connecting thread is the melody of the well-known 'An der Weser', composed by Gustav Pressel to lyrics by Franz von Dingelstedt, which has been incorporated in three different ways. Call of the Aboriginals Uluru - Kata Tjuta was commissioned by Nara Municipal Ichijo Senior High School Symphonic Band, Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan, to commemorate their 60th anniversary. Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is an immense monolith rising in the vastness of the Australian outback. Famously also known as Ayers Rock, it is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is a sacred site for the Aboriginal people of the area, the Pitjantjatjara Anangu, but has also become a popular tourist destination, creating cultural and environmental conflicts. This work, which is written in a style typical of the composer, tells a dramatic tale adventure inspired bythe life of the indigenous people and the magnificent scenery of Uluru. This work is suited for contests as well as thematic concerts.

Songs from Across the Water was commissioned by Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds - Phil Evans, Founder and Director. Phil Evans hails from the UK and served for 25 years in the Band of HM Royal Marines. Now resident in the USA he founded Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds in 2008, giving them the tag line 'An American Band with a British Accent', as he wanted to combine the best of both countries' band traditions. With this in mind, composer Philip Sparke decided to create a suite of British folk songs, scored with an American influence to fulfil the philosophy of the band's tag line. The three movements, which are played without a break, are based onthe following folk songs, which come from all corners of the British Isles: 'The Three Ravens & The Cruiskeen Lawn', 'The Lark in the Clear Air' and 'The Piper o' Dundee & Men of Harlech'.
